What actor played a role so iconicly that it's unimaginable anyone else could replace them?

I've never seen anyone "own" a role and character like that, before or since. And it's not like there wasn't any competition that year, either (Costner's movie wasn't bad, but Tombstone is legendary). Shoulda won an award, he shoulda.

I've not aware of the version where he says, "father".

Maybe I'm sheltered, but the only version I've ever been exposed to is the one where he uses the F word.

Coincidence, but right now I'm in the middle of watching Blade Runner with a friend who's never seen it. I'll see which version I have on DVD.

I think the U.S. TV version, Airline version, and the Final Cut all use the take where he says "Father".

The U.S. theatrical cut, International theatrical cut, Directors cut, and the work print all use the F-bomb.


I love exposing new people to that movie.

Turned down Grease because he was afraid of being type cast. He famously says "I hung up the phone and bought a ginger ale. Travolta hung up the phone and bought an airplane."

One of my all time fav movies One of the best sound tracks ever. Sweet story too, in a very very 70's way.
