I have a Mesa Walkabout Scout 12. I use it primarily as a practice amp, whether it be at home by myself or with my band. I also use it in combo form for small gigs, and I'll take the head out and use that with my other cabs for larger gigs.

It sounds great.

Roland does'nt get much love here on TB, but I have been using a Roland DB 700 ( no longer in production ) for many years now for small gigs and love it. It's a bit heavy, but I get a great tone from it that is perfect for small venues and restaurant type gigs. It has some memory capabillities to save favorite settings, and a very good onboard compressor. My only gripe with it is you can't add an extension speaker to it. Great find if you see one used, imho.

The only combo amp for bass I own -- or have ever owned -- is a Polytone MiniBrute III. I've had that amp since 1980, it just won't die!

Actually, with modern lightweight cabinets and a microhead, my stack (aka "Mini Rig Of Doom") is lighter and easier to transport than my combo amp!

When a plane crashed into my house and burned up my SVT, v4b, and Eden heads and associated cabinets, I just bought a GK700rb/210 kickback combo. It's been great. I love the growl and the fact that it kicksback so I can keep it close to me in tight stage setting (or bedroom use). For larger gigs, I just pop it on top of my Eden 410XLT and I'm ready. I've even played the local civic center 9,500 people seating capacity. The adjustable DI made it nice and easy.

I use a Hartke 3500 combo w\410 and a horn. i get all the tones i want from it. its on wheels.(im old) and more than enough power for anywhere i have used it and i play in a 7 piece band. And it is reasonably priced new. I also have Ampeg ba 115 for small clubs but i do run it through the PA. Although i did swap out the stock Chinese speaker for a Celestion
