I'm very courius about crush 35, it's so little and pretty!!
at home I practise with my medium gig amp:
ampeg b2 115 Combo, but without the usual second 115 cabinet....
I live in an apartment block... you now, my neighbours love me....

Yeah, The thing that drew me to the crush initially was the color. I love bright and you cannot get much brighter. I tried several smaller amps and even though the Crush was only 35 Watts with a 12 inch speaker, it could keep up with others that had more power and larger/more speakers. At home I never turn the amp up above 2 or 3. Once or twice I've used it at my church in our 600 seat auditorium and it held its own against a drummer and 3 guitars for praise and worship. It can get extremely loud, but with only 35 Watts, it looses headroom fast when cranked. Not normally a problem, but slap and low B stings can become muddied.
Obviously it didn't sound as good as my 610 rig, but compared favoribly to my Hartke kickback 12 combo. The kickback has more of a modern sound, while the Crush was voiced with more of a vintage sound. IMHO, although its close to comparing aples and oranges, the Crush seems to have a larger tonal pallet than the Kickback, although the Kickback is a much more solid amp and at 120 Watts does not usualy lack headroom.
The Crush has simple volume, gain, bass, middle, and treble controls. I find it sounds best with the bass, middle, and treble controls maxed. With a low output bass like a Jazz, I usually max the gain and adjust the volume to suit the room. With a higher output bass like a G&L L2X00, I still keep the tone controls maxed, but the gain must be lowered or the preamp will be driven to distortion, unless that is the desired effect. With high output basses the gain and volume must be adjusted together to give a desired tone.
Overall, the Crush 35B is a solid amp for practice or small jam sessions. It is limited in headroom and is definately more of a rock amp than a slap amp, but its redeaming qualites are great tone, light weight and small size, and don't forget the orange tolex. I liked the Crush enough that I later got an Orange Rockeverb 50 guitar amp. For what it is the Orange Crush 35B is a solid amp, IMHO, YMMV.
