What are the best strings for rock?

Rotosound swing bass 66. That’s it for me, and has been for a long time. I like them when they die off a bit and leave them on until one breaks. I found my sound a long time ago like: Fender, Ampeg, Rotosound strings, Monster Cables. With confidence in my sound I can concentrate on things like groove, harmony and the playing of music. But that just me.

To add more generalizations: stainless round wound, 45-65-85-105 (medium) of any kind. Rotosounds, Lo-Riders et rest. If you are scared of Rotosounds eating frets, use Lo-Riders instead.

I think all stainless steel strings will eat up frets. Which is unfortunate. If there is a brand that eats up frets less than others, I would be pleasantly surprised.

I will usually only use stainless for recording, I mostly use some standard gauge Dean Markley or Ernie Ball nicklesteel strings. It's a decent compromise.

Pop/Punk/Rock, i use Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 5's (45-130) and i find the B to be that little bit too slack for my tastes, although that may be due to a setup issue in general not strings. I also (Up until recently) was gigging with a P/J strung with Picato flats which seemed to work really well, although they don't work with Ashdown 1x15 combos, whatever i tried.
