I grew up in the late '70s in Salt Lake where the UP ran. It's funny, that's just the way I thought all locomotives sounded.

They did more back then... a lot of those locomotives like the ones in that vid (SD-40-2's) are all but gone nowdays.
They have a certain sound to them (turbo compressors)... it would be cool to have a song blend into that sound around the 2:38 mark and use a note in pitch that matches it at 2:55 starting a song...... just my wild imagination....

You realize Constantine Islamov (you show his Pink Floyd video) is an accomplished player and transcriber with over 1500 videos.

That's the first thing that crossed my mind when I read the thread title. I'm getting pretty good at swearing in Russian. I don't know if that one word starts with an S or a Z -- the one that's similar to bazooka.

As far as bass related stuff, I rarely get through an entire video. I've spent too many years thinking about bass stuff to find much of it interesting, unless it's that really cute young lady playing covers. Then I feel like a dirty old man.

A little bit off topic, but the first time I said "Houston" to a russian, he asked me to repeat it several times and took me around to all his friends. "Houston" sounds like "D*** Land" in russian. (Khyuistan)

My name is Etienne, I mainly play fretless bass and few months ago I began a youtube bass related channel (Ikochallenge). I am currently trying to reframe what should be my channel. I'm wondering if it should be a pure bass channel or a more general music channel. That's why I'm here
So my question is when you are on youtube what are you looking for: Covers? Licks, riffs explanations? gear review? Theory? Music composition tutos, music related fun...? Is it specifically bass related? Any constructive answer will help me

I'm looking for entertainment. Almost never bass related anything, unless it is a demo of specific piece of gear I'm thinking of buying, or the audio of a song I need to learn. And for that I look for the original artist recording.

That being said, I produce non-music related instructional videos as part of my day job and I absolutely agree with the suggestion that unlined fretless bass is the wrong choice for teaching anyone anything on video. I just watched a couple of your videos and, frankly, they might as well not have shots of your hands in them at all. With a blank board it is basically useless. And that's a shame, because the recording quality and playing is good.

I only watch youtube vids that claim to have been banned or will soon be. It's unbelievable the trove of info available. Proof the earth is flat, empty big box store buildings are in reality FEMA death camps stocked with plastic caskets and guillotines, and they are all connected by a network of underground highways so no one sees prisoners going in and plastic coffins coming out.
Oh and i almost forgot, the space aliens who gave us velcro and silly putty.

From my limited YT experience with video and photography. I found that gear stuff always draws more attention vs the hard work videos where I invest more time, effort, and energy.

And if you don't have a following, you could try and incorporate gear stuff to be the feature of your videos, and use your playing stuff as the backdrop.

And the key is to incorporate the newest and latest gear.
