What are you playing? and Why?

So awesome!

I don't think i've ever used the built-in chorus on my Peavey Mark VI (i just use my Boss Bass Chorus)... do you always use it? What setting do you keep it at?

i hardly use it, but i definitely would if i had a foot pedal to turn it off and on.... the chorus circuit is pretty complicated... for me the depth is always full on and the rate varies between 1 & 5(mid) after that it becomes pretty warbley( which can also be cool) also the chorus is controlled by the crossover section. it only choruses the high end of the spectrum that you set there.

and yes... yes it is awesome!:bassist:

Just a Bergantino ex112 and an iAmp 350 head right now . The cab because of the pronounced lower mids, no tweeter, and portability. The head pretty much because it was in my price range, and the EQ section is sweet. All in all I'm very happy with it- another ex112 or maybe an ht112 and I'd be set.

I'm close to this. I have iAmp 350 I play through an Aggie GS112 and/or Aggie G210. I love the iAmp because it's small and flexible tone-wise. I originally got the GS112 to counter-balance the iAmp's hi-fi-ness. With the two cabs, it's still a pretty darn small set-up and I've yet to experience any volume issues even when playing with some loud rock/punk bands.

But it got to be too much of a pain in the @$$ to haul, so I downsized to...

Although the Ampeg rig sounds pretty good, I like the Aguilar tone better. Being lighter and easier to move, too, makes the Aggie a big winner!

I took my SVT-410HLF to the music store and put it on consignment.

The wife apparently with the kid's help pushed all the other cabs and amps back behind the couches while I was in CT and NJ the last couple weeks. I got back Wednesday. I think the rest are still there. MAkes them hard to play with back there.

Tone is perfection, and IMO, it looks pretty good doing it.

This Rig Kills it - I played GK through JBL 15's for years. When I started playing again I bought the MarkBass head and an Ampeg 15 - shorlty after I picked up and old Pre Fender Goliath - now I had a slight mismatch. Grabbed an SWR 350x when they were blowing them out - aahh now I had the tube pre in front of a nice sounding Amp. Few months ago I picked up an SWR Golight 4x10 - retired the Ampeg (which is for sale) - now an old Goliath II and a new Golight with the SWR or the Markbass - both sound great - the MarkBass is cleaner and I use the DBX166XL with that Amp - the SWR Head with the SWR Cabs is Fat and round and tone for days really have been using this more lately. Happy with this mix right now.

Just went from an Aguilar DB750 to a TC Electronic RH450. LOVE the Aguilar but I'm 44 and it's just too damn heavy to haul to gigs every weekend. Plus I was carrying to rehearsal down two flights of stairs. The RH450 is as close as you can get and it weighs 8 lbs! Playing through the Bergie HS410 and loving it!!

Big amp:
- Demeter VTBP-201s
- QSC PLX1804
- Bergantino AE210
- Bergantino AE410

Little amp:
- Markbass F1
- Bergantino AE112

I often mix and match though. Usually the F1 with the AE410 for medium sized gigs.

The Demeter/QSC combination sounds FAR better than the F1, but I often miss the VLE knob.

large rig;

Hartke LH1000
Carvin LS-1503 Neo x 2

small rig;

GK MB2
Carvin LS-1503 Neo

both run thru;

Sonic Research ST-200 tuner
Boss GEB-7 EQ
Tech-21 VTBass

why ???

because i haven't heard any of the overpriced high dollar bootique gear out there outpreform or sound any better :D

Well, I certainly don't have anything like some of the boutique rigs I've just looked at....:eek:

I Have just one rig.....And I use it for everything :p

SWR Working Pro 400, obviously not the best amp SWR offers, but this thing really pounds the rafters....The tone IMO is outstanding, especially for an amp in this price range. It's got all the basics that I need (FX loop, tuner out etc...). Plus the "bass intensifier" really works wonders with my passive "Mexi"-Jazz bass (and dB pad does a nice job balancing things between my active/passive basses), and the parametric does a nice job of dialing in a nice tone (again IMHO).

BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer, I'm torn on this, I'll concede that I believe it shapes my tone a little, and warms things up a bit, but with the addition of the SWR amp (I played a SVT3 before) I'm thinking I no longer need the BBE. Plus it'll free up a rack space for that new tuner I've been eyeballing....We'll see.

Ampeg 410HLF, this thing impresses me more everyday....Love the tone, moves HUGE air, it's the closest I've gotten to a 8X10, while still keeping a small package....Though this thing weighs ALOT for being just a 4X10.

Assorted pedals...Boss Chorus, Boss EQ, Big Muff and an old Bass Wah.

Hughes & Kettner Fortress preamp: Ran into it, it was cheap, and it sounds real nice. Controllable sound, two tubes and a good number of ways to use it.

Crest FA901
, power amp: My drummer / most excellent friend and bro died of a cancer 9 years ago and I ended up inheriting it. It's reliable and powerful enough to do the gig. And it's sort of a family heirloom.

SWR SM400: Backup / smaller gigs head. Got it cheap! Sounds good- I like SWR. For nights I don't feel like plugging stuff into other stuff.

Bag End S15-D: Awesome cab I got- again- cheap! Just lucky- great cab and amazing for it's diminutive size. Better than all the bigger cabs I've tried yet. What a sound. I need to find another one (cheap!).

Avatar B212 (ceramic magnets): Got a deal on it in trade. Nice box, not super low bass but pretty boomy. I don't mind that- with the Bag End the whole sound is big and articulate at the same time.

Sansamp BDDI: Got in trade for a poweramp; I had two power amps and thought this would be a good idea for me, since I end up doing unexpected things with my bass- like recording or playing without an amp. I don't always use it but it's a great device, good toolbox filler. I'd recommend using a power supply with it rather than a battery- but hey, a battery will work until it runs out.
