Unreadably bad, amateurish writing.

I never had much interest in King's work before meeting my fiancee. I read half of Misery when I was 16 and that was about it. After meeting my fiancee she told me she was a fan of his work, and I kinda thought 'oh, one of these types, eh'. She definitely set me straight, started me out on 'The Stand' and I just kept going. I've read that along with 'The Dead Zone', 'It', 'Firestarter', 'Christine', 'The Tommyknockers', and 'The Shining' all within the last year, and have enjoyed them all.

I recently finished Broken Angels and Woken Furies, both by Richard K. Morgan. The 2nd and 3rd novels of his Takeshi Kovacs storyline, the first being Altered Carbon. I really enjoyed all three novels. Hopefully Morgan will write another Kovacs book in the future.

I have a few that I downloaded for my Kindle that I've been going back and forth with, one of which is called Catalyst by Paul Byers, which is a fictional WWII thriller set near the end of the war. The story revolves around Germany's plans for a jet bomber with the range to attack the U.S., and some folks from OSS trying to stop it. It has some cool aerial action, but it's only ok as a whole.

Its also my fiancee's favorite book of all time. I dont know if I personally favor any one of his books over the others, but if I do The Stand is probably up there.

I've read everything King ever wrote and have recently re-read the Stand (with 300 add'l pages vs original release) and all seven books of the Dark Tower series.

His writing style and the quirky nature of his stories are irresistible to me.

Try "It" for an oldie and Under the Dome or Duma Key for one of the newer ones.

He also has quite a few short story collections you may want to check out.
