Finished it the other day...

Well, the book was okay. I was a bit annoyed at Chris, to me it seemed he was still in a teenage rebellion phase and always seemed to have a huge chip on his shoulder regarding society in general. Yet apparently he said that he wanted to get married and settle down later in life.

And yes, his huge lack of preparation and frankly his arrogance and lack of respect to the nature killed him. A simple little map could have saved his life in the end, but he was so set on being independent and living off the land.

What also bothered me was how incredibly selfish he was. Yes granted he had some issues with his parents, but not speaking to them for two years and keeping them completely in the dark was just mean (imho of course).

For school? I had to read that last winter for a Philosophy class. Really cool imagery in there.

Nah, I study computers. When I did take a philosophy course a few years ago (as an A-Level) we mostly focused on modern philosophy and read Descartes' Meditations

I -love- the dialogues and images of the Republic! Totally fantastic writing style and vivid arguments.

Terry Pratchett has a interesting sense of humor. Some people for some reason don't get it, but if you like British humor, you'll have a blast with it. His Discworld series is awesome as well.

I'm currently re-reading the series in preparation for TtH, about halfway through The Bonehunters right now. Erikson is definitely one of my favourite fantasy authors ever.

Erikson is amazing. He and George R. R. Martin are the best things to happen to the genre in a long time.

Although Erikson is five billion times quicker at putting out novels than Martin is.

I had TtH shipped in from the UK because I couldn't wait for it to come out here.

So far it's very, very funny. Sort of "Paradise Lost" meets "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."

You Can't Win by Jack Black. Listed as William Burrough's favorite book. Its the autobiography of a career criminal who rode the rails robbing housed and cracking safes in the 1920's. Jack Black the actor took his name from this guy.

I'm reading "Tweak" by Nic Sheff. His true-life story of drug addiction. It's difficult to put down, a real page-turner and absolutely harrowing. His father also wrote a book chronicling the whole experience, I'm going to read that next.

Yeah. I wonder what he'll turn to when he's finished with the 10 books? I can only image how immense the 10th book is going to be. The conclusion will be stunning, I'm sure.
