Double Bass What are you using to amplify your upright bass?

What amplification are you guys using for upright? What about doubling?

I used to use the NoAmp, but now Eschew Amplification.

On upright only gigs, I use a Fishman Full Circle pickup into an Acoustic Image Clarus head and Raezer's Edge Stealth 10 cabinet. I usually have an fdeck HP-3 to use as a low-cut filter if necessary.

On doubling gigs, I'll sometimes use my Crown XLS-1500 power amp into an Aguilar GS112 instead of the Clarus/RE combo.

I've borrowed a Radial Tonebone Bassbone recently to try out as a switch between electric and upright and I like it a lot, so I'll probably be picking one up for myself.

Schoeps CMC6/MK41 mic into a Glockenklang Bass Art Classic preamp, modded by Glockenklang so it has a mic input + phantom & phase switch, into a Schertler JAM150 Extension powered cab. For very loud pop gigs I use a Fichter EUB with the same preamp and two Scherter JAM150 Extension powered cabs.

Carlsbro Delta-600 into Fender 1x15" with a different speaker (if it needs to get loud only, i.e. In the rare case of doubling)

Ehrlund EAP linear pickup through a Headway EDB-2 preamp, and into a QSC K8, a Walter Woods Electroacoustic Ultra High Power, or FOH with a dedicated monitor.

Unamplified, or Schetler (I think) pickup to Schertler pre-amp to either the AI 2-channel series 4 head or to either the AI 2 channel combo or AI 2 channel combo + AI ten-2 extension speaker or EA M-Line Wizzy 12. It all depends on the room. IME, different rooms call for different amplification but on my upright I haven't found much difference in the pickup. 4+ years and I have no complaints playing small to medium rooms.

Both of my double basses have a Fishman Full Circle and my Eminence EUB has a Realist. I play through a Markacoustic AC101 combo which I reviewed here. The AC101 has two channels which makes it handy for doubling gigs and I also have the matching extension cabinet, although I've never used it.

If I am using an unfamiliar amplifier or plugging directly into the PA, I use a Fishman Platinum Stage preamp or a Radial StageBug SB-4 DI. I also have a Markbass CMD 121P combo for electric bass gigs, but I've used it for double bass as well.

Is that the AI Clarus S-4 head? Looks like a swiss army knife of an amp. How is it for electric bass?

Sorry, no idea. I gave up my BGs to concentrate on the upright. I realized after listening to Victor Wooten, etc that while I could play a bass line with a FBG, I couldn't really play a BG.
