What are your lightest/heaviest basses?...

Yup. I'm a huge fan boy. Cliff is my builder for life. I have one in the queue for a Nov 2021 eta, and one due in May 2022. I'm dying. I expect these to be my last Basses ever. After going through about 8-10 bordwells, and living with my current on about 10-12 years, I think I can finally nail down the perfect bass. I'm going to build a prototype first, and then the final deluxe version if the custom neck profile and other ergonomic details come out as hoped.

Hopefully it turn out good. Like to see pictures of those baby's when completed.

I've got two 7-string basses which by far are the heaviest, the BTB7 hanging on the left is my current heaviest at 4.9 kg (10 lb 13 oz), and the SRAS7 on the right is my second heaviest at 4.7 kg (10 lb 6 oz). I owned several 6 string basses weighing ≥5 kg in the past, so these two are relatively lighter being 7-ers.

SRH505 on the middle is my current lightest at 3.0 kg (6 lb 10 oz).

What wall hanger do you use for the btb747? I use String Swings for my current basses, but I suspect the 747 is too wide...

The wall hangers I use are all from Hercules.

Yes, the 7 strings need special hangers which can hold such wide neck. And these aren't just the typical Hercules wall hangers. The model is GSP29WB which I see no longer available on herculesstands.com although several online retailers on *Bay seem still have them in stock (I'd suggest get one quick).

Btw, my BTB 7 string isn't the current BTB747 model. It's from previous builds and the model is just BTB7. Hope you get your BTB747 soon in this pandemic situation.

My Dano weighs in at 6.8lbs (which includes a Reverend chrome arm rest) and the sit-down battle axe of my collection is the ATK at a whopping 11.6lbs. How important is weight to you? I've heard some people say they won't ever buy a bass over 9lbs. I guess it depends on what you're gonna do with it. I would never want to play a gig with something like that ATK but for sitting down and noodling around with... Why not? I guess if I had to put a number on it, over 9.2lbs is when a bass starts to feel a little cumbersome to me. Do you have a cut-off point when it comes to weight? Please share.

Like you, my ATK is my boat anchor of choice. Got that Mini Precision Squier Bass recently, which is now definitely the lightest bass in the collection (~6lbs).
I used to gig with the ATK, but it is now retired for the sake of my back. Still love it and did its job, AKA: it kept me from buying an EBMM all these years.
Also I never saw the ATK in white, nice!

My heaviest was my Dan Armstrong at 10.34 lbs. The lightest would probably be my GEB 750's, but at 9.4 lbs it isn't by much.

I gots two of those Squier Jazz basses made of solid maple. Ugh. I'll end up a knuckle dragger if I play them too long.

If I then play my GSR200 which is basswood me thinks, it is the lightest.

My main parts Precision is 8.5 lbs. my new Peavey Milestone is 8.2. i think my sweet spot is right around that range.

I had a jazz bass for about a week, before I got the Peavey. It was 9.5, and after a 2 hr rehearsal it was really wearing on my shoulder. I guess I'm ready to apply for the grumpy old farts club!

Ive had lighter basses in the past (EG, Ibanez SR.) I don't know what my lowest limit is, but too much less than 8.5, it starts to feel like a toy!

Lightest- 1980s MIJ P copy is 8lbs on the nose (seems to be made of light ash). I think my Guild JS II is right around there.

Heaviest- My warmoth Jazz and Stingray are both 10.1, which is about my upper limit

I've always wondered how much my basses weigh. Now that we have a newborn baby again we have a scale.

Squier VM Fretless Jazz (my #1) weighs 9 lbs 2 oz
Schecter Raiden Special-4 weighs 8 lbs 8 oz
Ibanez AEB5E Acoustic weighs 6 lbs 4 oz

My lightest is my Cort Rithimic. Passive, with just a light alder body and a slim maple neck. It really is a featherweight instrument.

My heaviest is easily my Manne Custom 6 fretless. It's pretty much all quilted maple - solid wings, maple thru neck. It's a big instrument but it balances very well. Funnily, my Pedulla Pentabuzz is physically a lot smaller but almost feels heavier in a way because the Pedulla seems to keep all it's weight in the body. This is another bass with solid maple wings, flamed this time, and a maple thru-neck. They sound amazing but they aren't light by any stretch of the imagination.

"5.8 for a Precision", you may be thinking, "gosh that's light even for an old one". But unfortunately it's 5.8 kilos, and if you multiply by 2.204 to get it in the old money, it's 12 lb 8 oz.

Both Peaveys. The lightest is a Dynabass Unity in Koa and PH that feels like a piece of A4 paper with a neck. The heaviest is the roadworn T40 (I have 2); must be > 5.5kg.

Weight is a major factor for me. I would say all my basses have been in the 7-8.5 lb range.

Currently my Birdsong CBass is around 7.5 lbs, and my fretless Birdsong is in that same range. I have a third Birdsong on order (5 string in alder) that I expect will be closer to the 8/8.5 range.

Once you get up around 9+ I'm tempted to back away, though an extra half pound to pound spread out evenly over a well balanced bass isn't a huge deal IMO.

Let me add, a good strap helps. Well, somewhat...lol!
