What are your thoughts on a two 12 cabinet?

I have had the same issue.

I have a warwick wca210 and thought about getting a 212 for a long time. I bought the TC Electronic RS212 and I think it's pretty good. The WCA210 I think gives a pretty good low end for a 210 but I think the RS212 gives more. At least it can handle the B string bette, is louder and works really well with my Markbass LMII. I tested Markbass cabinets too but got the impression they are very middle-frequency tuned. I have played just two gigs with the RS212 but I have been satisfied.

The downside is that I really don't like the surface material much, but it doesn't affect the sound:)

I'd second Bogey's recommendation of the NeoX212 as one of the only large production 212's that uses proper alignment, etc. It's a good design. As much as I hate their amp shenanigans, TC's 212 is another.

Good call. A well designed box will take you far. Vertical alignment is always a good bet. :)

If you want the tone you want without spending a lot-o-cash, maybe you should be looking into a DI box with tone shaping capabilities, like the Tech21 BDDI (and many others, do a search in "Effects" for DI). That way, you can get YOUR tone no matter what cab configuration you are running and you don't need to drop quite so much cash.

I have a (discontinued) Eden Nemisis RS212 purchased new for $350. It's a 400 watt cab and light in weight (56lbs or so) and the handles are on each side (top) and this makes it really easy to carry or lift. This is one of the newer Nemisi cabs that were made with real plywood. For the money I was quite surprised and happy. My band played small bar/grill type venues and when I walked in with this cab instead of my old trusty 2x10 cab they immediatle started to dislike me and my new cab :-). It's louder than I need and you get a nice low mid sound. 2x12's are the bonb.

Light and low and a mostly traditional cab makes me think that you should consider the Genz-Benz uber series 410 and 212.

If you want something that's 2x12, lighter, lower and louder you should check into a fEARful 1212/6. There are a host of great builders out there who either have them on hand or will build for you with your choice of looks.

Often times its worth saving some extra cash and buying a better cab...There's a reason that some cabs cost more than others, and its not just because of the brand name.

The 1212/6 is a phenomenal cab. I doubt you will find anyone who has actually played through one who hasn't absolutely fallen in love with it.

I have shlepped a 2*12 cab around for a long time. It is a sonic cab loaded with 2 12" gauss speakers.

It really has been amazing. It handles the full spectrum well, extremely efficient, very fast. Nice tone, not too bright and handles lows w/o being muddy.

It is just very heavy.

I've been thinking of a 212, too. It's the only thing I don't have currently or have had in the past.

Currently just gigging thru an orange 115, but have been looking at the Orange 212 to add to the 115.

Their inline drivers are kinda intriguing to me. Plus, at 3 1/2 months post back surgery, I really like the 45lbs.

Any thoughts on the Orange 212?

The isobaric design used in the orange cabs gives you more lows, but mid and upper frequency output is still that of a single driver. Maybe the sound you're looking for, that's cool. Just know that design won't play as loud as a "regular" 212 throughout the entire bandwidth.

Again, the GenzBenz NeoX212 is about the best design out there as far as mass production 212's go. Whether or not it's general tone is to your liking is a personal choice only your ear can decide.

I wouldn't pair a 212 with a single 15 unless you're looking to kill your 15, for the same reason that a 4x10 and a 1x15 isn't a good match.

In line vertical drivers give you better sound in the room, with less chance of funny phase cancellations.

For real, if you like your 15, get a second one.

Are you saying the 212 will over power the lows of the 115?
