What Are Your Top "Days" Songs?

Wow, a lot of songs I didn't expect to see here. Some of them are worn out, but it doesn't really bother me to hear them.

I was expecting to see stuff like Seasons in the Sun or Afternoon Delight :D

Agreed, just because some of the listed songs are worn out doesn't mean they stink. But it's all just opinion.

Totally agree. If I make a long list, most of them aren't bad, I'm just totally whipped by them and would rather get a flaming arrow through the neck than hear them again, or worse have to play them again.
Reminds me of a great picture I saw of a New Orleans jazz band onstage taken sometime during the 50's, and they had a sign hanging behind them that said "Requests $2 - Saints $20".
"When the Saints Go Marching In" being their equivalent of "Freebird".

Mustang Sally
Proud Mary
Sweet Child 'o' Mine
Sweet Home Alabama
Brown Eyed Girl
Freebird
Since You've Been Gone...
theres LOADS more probably but if I EVER have to play any of that lot for LESS than £150-200 PER BAND MEMBER I'm either quitting the BAND or quitting MUSIC FULL STOP!!!

I'm hot and angry when writing this, so at the moment with one of my bands critisising what I spend my OWN money on yesterday 2-on-1 because I can't afford to do any out-of-band-matey stuff - I'd give 40-45 YEARS to avoid all of them...

Blinded by the light - Manfred Mann

Not saying I would give up any Of my tomorrows ,to not hear that song again.
Seeing how I figure I have more yesterdays than I have tomorrows ,now.
But how Or why that song is in any rotation on any station. I will never know.
Who would call and request such a song. ??
Anyway. I would rather Not hear a bunch of songs again. And many are by some of my favorite groups too.
Funny how mainstream media has or had, taken songs by some of our favs and ruined them.
And I too, wouldn't care to hear anything by any rap group - featuring who ever? ?
A drum machine and a female singing the chorus, ain't music.
Its pityful what passes as music nowdays.
I'm thankful and blessed that I'm as old as I am. But Hate my kids ain't Got a chance to enjoy or hear, actual musicians, new material. And feel that excitement that we did. When we knew of a upcoming album. Its really pityful. Nowdays.

A,drum beat And a hook are considered music nowdays.

Give me a Guy with a guitar And some three chords blues.

Sorry To get off topic. But looked Like a good place to vent about music today. Or lack thereof.

Gotta go mow my yard now. And put on some GOVT MULE. That will cure my Need for quality music.
If I ain't ran my battery down griping about rap music and Manfred. Lol

Man, you're opening a big a ol' huge can there. I agree in some ways, in some I don't. The recent passing of MCA brings this to mind. People in the linear recording world, let's call it, most often don't appreciate how much work and time guys in the sampling world put into their work, when it's well done that is. The Beastie Boys were genius. They weren't sampling James Brown and Ima Thomas tracks and looping those, adding a beat and talking over it. They were playing their own instruments, recording that, mixing that, then sampling that and adding beats, and then doing vox over that. It's a hell of a lot of work, and IMO the greatness of the results speak for themselves. There's a lot more out there in the hip hop world that is well worth listening to.
I'm an old soul & blues guy too, but I work in music production so I have to keep an opened mind. What I've found out after nearly 40 years of making my living in recording and mastering is this: all music genres are pretty much the same - 20% of it is worth listening to, 80% of it is crap. It just depends on whether you're willing to put in the time to find the 20%. Most people aren't, so they tend to write certain music off as trash because they've never heard the diamonds.
The only exception to my 80/20 rule, IMO, is pop country, which from what I've heard and worked on, about 99% of it blows chunks. Jason Aldean? Are you freaking kidding me?

I hope no one takes any offense.. Also, dont get me wrong, I am the biggest Beatle fan around...

But If I never heard that Paul Mc Cartney "Simply having a wonderful Christmas Time" song again, It would be too soon!

Thank goodness it only gets played a few weeks out of the year!
