What bass am I missing?

Wife asked me to start putting together my Christmas list and I'm thinking about adding a new bass. Nothing crazy expensive, less than $2000 certainly. But based on what I already have below, what would YOU recommend I add to my collection? New/current production only please. I couldn't imagine her looking for an old/vintage instrument lol

That’s a nice collection. You’ve got most things covered. You could go fretless or 5/6 string. I have no interest in either of those, so I’d probably get an acoustic bass, those can be fretless and 5 string too. I like the quick practice I can get out of it and it looks cool on an acoustic gig.

But what I would do before that is consider an acoustic guitar or keyboard. I feel like both of those have helped me understand bass better.

who am I kidding? I’d buy $1999.99 worth of pedals.

I don’t think you need a bass, but a used Japanese Fender might be nice. They go for about a grand nowadays.

The Epi EB-0. A short scale, 12" radius, 30.5" Rosewood fretboard, with one powerful Humbucking. A classic EB/SG style body, that puts out great tones. $269. new.

The farthest back that I could still say is still a little closer to the neck, is a Squier CV 50's single coil p bass, but it's subtle.

A Warwick $$ of some kind. It will be a different sound an feel from the other basses you have listed here.

A Dingwall would be radically different as well.

A Tony Franklin fretless might not be a bad choice either; it would fit with the rest of your collection but bring a new challenge.

This is in the neighborhood I was thinking about too. You have that funky clicky kind of aggressiveness in the EBMM and Sterling, but you don't have something that gets you that metal growl easily.

These two above can do that.

A Reverend Thundergun or Mercalli would work too.

But I supposed it also is what you're running the EBMM/Sterling into, there is certainly a degree of overlap in those and these.

I think a Hofner or a Danelectro Longhorn would fill a couple of holes in your tone spectrum and every bass player should own a Geddy Lee Jazz bass at least once.
