What bass did you not bond with

Rob Allen Mouse, which really bummed me out, a Modulus fretless Jazz, a Fender Victor Bailey fiver, various others.
They make everything really well.
Musical instruments of many varieties, Motorcycles, Jet Skis, Golf Products, Automotive Sound Systems, Home Audio, Professional Audio Equipment, Network Devices, Factory Automation Equipment.
1976 Fender Mustang. Thought it was too small for me (I'm 5'11) and thin sounding, so I sold it in 2001. Didn't look back until I joined a Rolling Stones tribute and realized Bill Wyman played one for a year or two (though he never apparently cared for them either), but it would have been more authentic than the bass I was playing. Of course now I really wish I still had it, not only for it's value, but I've come to appreciate smaller short scale necks, and they do sound pretty decent as well, (maybe with a little boost and eq).

Jazz basses - tried so many, but simply no joy.
Stingray- both 4 and 5 string versions.
Rickenbacker- I love the sound, but can't get on with the means of delivery lol

I agree with this - but sometimes even though a product is well made doesn't mean you're going to like it. I didn't like my TRBX.
Just wait until I get those new knobs that go to 12!11 is old news. Mine sits on 11.5
The bass that I most wanted to love was an early 2000s Elrick Gold Standard 5 I had for about 6 months. It was a simple bass - ash body and a wenge neck and board. Bartolini electronics and preamp. I really just had a "fine" experience with it, which wasn't enough to justify keeping it. The weight was quite low and the bass was comfortable to play, but I just did not get attached to the bass. I wound up moving it and getting an F bass which fared a bit better, but eventually moved along as well.
I've come to the conclusion that it was probably more of an issue with me in those days than with the basses. I've been quite happy with what is probably a lesser instrument that I have at the moment, but to support that people rarely change, I do have a custom on order. Perhaps with ordering an instrument that has precisely the specs I want, I'll find that bass that I really connect with. I could also discover I have a disorder!

I'm quoting myself because i want to put a little water in the wine here.
I'll enjoy to play any bass as long as it is well setup. But i will not play everything with any bass.
All in all, it's a matter of context and playability.
Ibanez IceMan bass. I don't know why I bought it or what my plan was, but it was the only non-FSO that was music go round at the time. This was the only time I've been annoyed by neck dive..
With no disrespect because appearance wise, I love this bass! But, I just can't bond with the EB MM Stingray! I tried! Honestly, I tried!
The mid range is way too strong for me and although I could make improvements with eqing, never to my satisfaction!
Also, for me to get that classic Stingray sound, it required me to pluck fairly close to the bridge and it was uncomfortable for me to position my hand and elbow back that far.
Anyway, I sold the 'Ray and I have zero desire to ever own one again.
Now, I don't mean to step on "any toes" of Stingray lovers. I'm just speaking for myself. Thus the classic acronyms...........

(On the positive side, the 'Ray does "cut through the mix" with it's strong mids. If that is your thing. It's not mine.)

Same here, I even dropped different pickups in it and I still didn't really like the tone. I think that the five way tone switch actually sucks the tone out of it.
I have to agree, they seem without personality.
I like a number of the Yamaha BB Series basses and some of the Yamaha Attitude basses.
But everything Yamaha makes seems to be made with consistent quality control and not cutting corners.

Wanted to make it my "back-up bass".
Just couldn't make it work. Gave it back and bought another P.
If I could have afforded to be a "collector "at that time, I might have kept it and learned to like it. Then again, I'd probably have alot of other basses I might or not bond with.... if I could afford it.
