I enjoy the stars, but I really admire the session players who come in, get the basic idea of the song, and then lay down a perfect track. I've heard some tasty playing on tracks and then found through a little research that is was a session guy who laid it down.

If you haven't read much about Joe Osborn, now known for the Lakland signature model, look up his bio and interview on the web (Vintage Guitar website). Any cat who can record over 200 Top 40 songs and spend much of his career working six days a week for top dollar is doing something right on his instrument.
