What bass guitar do you recomment for slapping??

Jazz Bass Marcus Miller Signature:bassist:... nah, not absolutely

I think any good Fender Jazz Bass, the newest ones IMO will help you, and be sure to find a broad neck dimension for more comfort.... BUT...

There are the "Like a jazz bass but ON STEROIDS" basses such as
-Sadowsky
-N.Y.C Basses by Fodera
-Lakland
-Nordys

..and I've only named a few .. many factors are involved depends on you: if you want Old school style, new hi-fi tone etc.. I'm sure there are experts here who can help you with more detail!:)

this:

- music man Stingray 4

I agree with everyone so far, but just as an added irrelevant comment, I was over at the used instrument store the other day and there was a Tune bass hanging on the wall. I tried it and immediately noticed it had about the best slap tone (modern hi-fi style) I ever heard. Just sayin.

You might want to try using the search function for your answer. Now to answer:

I believe some basses are more suited for slap than others (soundwise), but for most part it depends on the technique of the player. Classic examples of good basses for slap include StingRays, Jazz basses, Soundgears (imo) etc.

Jazz Bass (Marcus for sound), any Fodera (need I say more...), Stingrays, MTD, Zon etc...

However, these are for the best feel and sound. Any bass will do.

The most important aspect is how the bass is set up. If you have a Jazz bass with high action and insanly heavy strings your sound and technique will suffer.

Any bass you can get to have a good consistant low action will be great.
