Mackroken Flower Grande réserve. Scotch ale with honey, oak-aged for 4 months. Made by a great microbrew in Quebec, Bilboquet.

last night I had railway city's dead elephant ale. Pretty good stuff, it's an IPA, so it's hoppy - but not QUITE as hoppy as many other IPAs I've had, I'd even say it's less bitter than great lake's devil's pale ale and mill st.'s tankhouse ale - it's more of an aromatic hoppiness than a bitter hoppiness.

I stopped by at D&W and got all I need for this weekend: 4 pounds of juicy rib eye...Founders: Porter, Breakfast Stout and Harvest Ale !!

Double Chocolate Coffee Oatmeal Stout?

I bet its delicious! But, I find it funny in that one usually sees a "Double/Chocolate Stout" a "Coffee Stout" or an "Oatmeal Stout". Thats the first time Ive seen them all together!

It seems shipping beer is no easy feat to accomplish. macaroni_tony was sending me some brew and he had to order it from BevMo! online in order for it to ship properly, I believe.
Im not certain what the requirements are, myself, but Ive heard of some people having trouble.
I dont know if Founders is available around these parts, but I'll definitely be on the lookout for it!

I had a Stone collab Mint Chocolate Stout thinking it might be the bees knees, but it wasnt quite as good as I was expecting. Last year I had a Stone collab Cherry Chocolate Stout and it was one of the best beers Ive ever had! They just opened a Stone Brewery Store in Pasadena, so now I can drive 20 minutes to fill my growler instead of having to drive all the way to Escondido!

Shipping beer isn't a big deal. It's also not strictly legal with USPS, so go with UPS or FedEx, and know that it's against their policy.

Wrap each bottle individually in bubble wrap. Then double or triple line a box with bubble wrap. Then put the wrapped bottles in the box. Then fill it with newspaper or bubble wrap. Then ship it via UPS or Fed Ex, and if they ask, it's 'yeast samples.'

I've shipped and received tons of beer. My sister uses USPS flat rate boxes and can get about eight 12 oz bottles in there. I wouldn't ship with USPS but it works too.

What did I drink lately?

That was at a tasting on Saturday.

Five year vertical of Deschutes Abyss imperial stout.
Four year vertical of Hair of the Dog Doggie Claws barleywine.
Goose Island Big John and Bourbon County Stout.
The Bruery Black Tuesday and Chocolate Rain, both 18+% stouts.
New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red.
Upland Blackberrry Lambic.
Descutes Dissident from 2010.
Two unreleased beers from Big Sky Brewing here in town that a few employees brought over.

It was a long night and a longer morning.
