What cab to go with Thunderfunk?

Another nice combination that gets you close to the Berg warmth and organic sound in a lighter, louder package is the EA NL210.... light, loud for a 210, and a nice match-up with the TF.

per the NL210,

IME, the EA NL warmth doesnt quite sound like the berg warmth. the berg has a meatier richness about it, while the NL has an almost woolly and subduing warmth.

its the difference btwn a thick cotton rollneck sweater and an equally thick ... yes... "wool" shetland sweater.

again, i give the edge the berg, course, these are only my adjective happy ears.

still, the TF's terrific timbre knob does wonders with most any cab, so i doubt you'd go wrong with any of these high end manufacturers.

I just got back in front of a computer to check in. Lot's of really good suggestions. I'm getting more intrigued with the Epi UL 3-10. does anyone play this out? How is the low end? Is it a fairly warm sounding cab? Is it really 47 pounds? and most important where is the best deal on one?

Tough to get a good deal on new epi cabs since they arent exactly cheap, and they are worth every penny i bet. I recently ordered a new ul310 myself.

Hello. First, it really is 47 pounds... very light. It's plenty loud, but I don't know if I'd call it 'warm'. It's very precise... plenty low end and a very pristine, nice treble response.

Jason (TBer Vision) is using the 310UL with an AMP420... which is pretty close to the TF... you should PM him for his experience. I know he digs it!

Im also under the impression that it isnt the warmest of cabs. Bergantino cabs probably tend to give you more warmth.

Kael, I see in your sig that you play DB and BG. So, do you find the TF/EA setup to be a good rig for doublers?

I use a Berg 112 stack with my Thunderfunk and love it. These cabs have got a great sweet, warm, punchy, thick tone - very musical. I absolutely LOVE the tweeter - sounds simply fantastic. Loud, too. The lows are nice and tight, but the cabs do lack some bottom end depth IME.

Oh and BTW - I cannot say enough good things about the Thunderfunk amp. That thing is truly amazing...
