I’d also vote CAR, but since you have two, if I were in your shoes, I’d do a wine red. Something darker, but still red.

That does look sharp! I was thinking that LPB would look great with the black blocks - a darker blue for the darker blocks kind of thing. And I do have a period correct white-ish guard and thumbrest, so I would be all set.Have it done in Lake Placid Blue with light checking and wear. I had MJT do a '52 slab P bass, and they did a great job. Then find a period correct pickguard and finger rest. This would look fantastic with the maple f.b / black blocks! Like this...

We have a no-tort zone here. Any bass of mine that came with tort is immediately liberated, and the tort is banished to the depths of the music closet.I'd leave it and replace the pickguard with tort.
