What color should I paint my 72 Jazz? Non-binding poll

I’d also vote CAR, but since you have two, if I were in your shoes, I’d do a wine red. Something darker, but still red.

Have it done in Lake Placid Blue with light checking and wear. I had MJT do a '52 slab P bass, and they did a great job. Then find a period correct pickguard and finger rest. This would look fantastic with the maple f.b / black blocks! Like this...

That does look sharp! I was thinking that LPB would look great with the black blocks - a darker blue for the darker blocks kind of thing. And I do have a period correct white-ish guard and thumbrest, so I would be all set.

I'm doing the paint job myself, and while I have ample confidence in my painting abilities, I'm not so sure about the light relicing

Black and white are boring I vote something different. Lots of colors to choose from. If it were mine, I would do something like seafoam green.

It would kinda sorta match my Sadowsky!!

I think it looks good in white because at least it's not sunburst (in which case my answer would be 'Kill it with fire!")
But I elected "custom" color and I am partial to all the 60s pastels. Shell pink, daphne blue, surf green, etc. Or a metallic finish - deep red, some kind of green, etc.

I can't think of anyone who plays a '72 Jazz bass, especially with that maple/black inlay fingerboard, so I'd just paint it black.

I think white looks great, especially with that pickguard. And whether you're playing a dressed-up tuxedo gig or a dressed-down jeans 'n T-shirt gig, the white bass will look good. So, yeah, I'd say get it properly finished in a shade of white that you like.
