Hmmm...thanks to the interest this thread has generated (thanks, @MDStingray !) I see there's now 2 anonymousses (Tempe, Arizona and Oak Ridge, Tennessee).
If anyone wants to claim them just pm me and I'll sort it.
Also, I've seen a few duplicate entries.
There is a search function or a drop-down list at the side (admittedly it's not easy to see - it's that little '<<' top right).
Also, and this is something I meant to do to, but I haven't had time...please feel free to add additional info...band names, website links.
And if anyone wants to claim Antarctica, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to insist on a geo-tagged photo of you playing your bass outside in a polka-dotted bikini.

Except that New Zealand is no more part of Australia than Texas and California are part of Mexico. Less so, in fact.
And Hawaii is not part of North America. That's like claiming that Tahiti and New Caledonia are part of Europe.
Apologies accepted. Why on Earth is one half of the island of New Guinea part of the Asian continent, and the other half part of the Australian continent?
This. Australasia, yes, or even Oceania, but not Australia. Even if NZ took up the option of becoming the 6th state during Federation, it'd still be on a different continent.
Legal reasons - Papua and New Guinea are different countries, like Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Though I may be wrong, and there may actually be a faultline running down it - that wouldn't surprise me at all.
Exactly. The question is "on which continent are you?", not "in which geopolitical entity do you reside?"
I don't think the map was coloured by @Oddly and definitely believe it was not used to create/fuel geo-political conflict. Just shapes of the landmasses to drop your pin on.

I appreciate that you think you've asked a simple question, with the best of intentions, and done so in all innocence. Perhaps you should think a little more about what it is you want to ask.

I am sorry - I did not color the map. I think this map is most commonly used.
I could also have included Oceania, but I did not, as it might confuse others, you can't get it right for everyone.
Same for identifying all islands - just too much work.
Hawaii I guess is legally part of NA. I realize that rule does not apply for NZ to Australia.
Since I used the same reasoning to place myself on Antarctica, I'll have to concede the point.
Yeah, that map is pretty generic and simplified... I know my wife has almost the exact same one hanging up in her primary school classroom.
