My first bass is still the main bass that I use for my recordings and shows...not bad for an Ibanez EDC over 10 years old that gets some serious play time... its my buddy =D

Sold it in the classifieds about 2 years after I bought it. At the time (this was over 30 years ago) it just never occurred to me that I'd want to have more than one bass!

I knew from the first one that I bought that I was addicted like crack.... I feel for ya though if I had to give up one of my basses I'd be super heartbroken... sounds like my gf though "you already have like 5... why do you need more"... my response is "because I do and they make me happy without complaining".... =D
Its resting in its case upstairs. Almost sold it a few times. Its a 25 year old G&L SB1. Parents bought it for me new when I was in middle school. I usually just play active jazz basses now.
Sold it to a pawn shop when I needed money to move. Don't really regret it except that I wish I had sold it on Craigslist for more money. It was beat to hell and didn't even sound very good.
. I wish I still had that one today!
My first bass was an early 2000's Epiphone EB-0 bass, short scale, one neck humbucker, black finish. Good sounding bass. Bought it off a friend for $150 still have it after 6 years. Real mellow sound.
Made several upgrades to it, then donated it to a local church after I moved onto 5 strings (and high-end axes at that). They are using it multiple times per week. I've never looked back. Not once.
My first bass was a Prince J-bass (if anyone else heard them, please contact me, I think I have their only musical instrument). Black with black headstock, the neck painted black in the back and a cheap 1-ply white pg.
I changed the tuners to Gotoh, the pickups to Fender, gigged a lot with it and then sold it to buy a Fender. After a couple of years the guy who bought it stopped playing and gave it back to me for free.
Now it has a b-w-b pg, black control plate, black bridge, black chrome knobs and it's in the process of being routed to take a P-pup right next to the neck and a MM-pup bridge side. The pups will be all white. Kinda like Blackie, of Pink Floyd's David Gilmour.

It was a well used and abused 20-year-old '67 Gibson EBO when we bought it for $100. It was a more used and abused 33-year-old '67 EBO when I sold it for $400. I wish I had kept it and modded it the way I always dreamed. Sure miss that bass...

It was a Peavy t-40. I then got a néw G&L L1000 when they came out and traded them both for a kramer aluminum neck.
My first, a Univox HiFlier, was given away when I moved by bus from NY to TX, back in '78. After the move, I quickly aquired a Gibson EB-O, followed by my first Ric, a '76 4001mg. It's been game on ever since.
Mine was a a $100 ebay cort knockoff. The electronics fell apart and I moved on without looking back.
I still have it thought. It sits in the living room as a plaything for my three year old who likes to slap away on it.

My first was a Silvertone. I still have it. In consideration to my mate who gave it to me it has special place of honor in my man cave and because of who gave it to me and why that bass means just as much to me as my others, even more so. It needs a new bridge, the volume and tone knobs are lousy, could be refinished but I don't think I could part with it
I just can't bring my self to sell any of them... I'm going to have to open a bass museum one day!
