What did you learn today?

I learned yesterday (if that counts) that my Grandson friends don't really know what a quarter after the hour really is. They're between 15-17 yrs old. I had to explain it to them. I was surprised and my Grandson almost died from laughing. I didn't think it was that funny at all-but I let him have his fun.
One kid did say that his parents only bought him Casio watches... My Grandson couldn't breathe for laughing after that remark. Maybe I shoulda posted this elsewhere.

That I'm a pretty good driving instructor.

My great-nephew aced his driving test while driving my car (the car he used for driving practice, with me as his teacher) and got his interim driver's license today!:hyper::woot::thumbsup:
I once tried to teach somebody to drive and he hit a house :wideyed:

If somebody is 30+ with a 6" tall mohawk, there's probably a reason why they're not already driving.

That fail is all on him. Wish i could find that picture of him sitting on their side porch steps holding a bloody rag up to his face, while the elderly couple peered out thru the open screen door, my 1984 Pontiac mashed into their porch :blackeye::meh::p

I didn't teach my ex-wife to drive a stick by showing her how I drove it, taking her to a coffee shop in the neighborhood, getting out and tossing her the keys, and telling her not to come back for me until she could drive it.

I don't think it took her more than 20 to 30 minutes and she could say that she was self taught.

Reactions: the harp unstrung
That all the hand-wringing I've done about trying to find studs behind my plaster walls was silly.

I've never used a studfinder - I can find them by sound. But I've always had wallboard, not plaster, so it's easy. I've been needing to hang some heavy objects, and for sure gotta find studs for that, and my little magnetic studfinder has been reliable, but it baaaaaarrrreeeeelllllllyyyyyy finds them. I'm not sure what possessed me today, but I banged my knuckle along the wall like I've always done, and whaddya know, it works great.

Sigh.
