TIL there is a cell phone hotspot in Australia. Set your phone on the post, dish focuses the signal to the nearest tower. 100% passive, tool itself uses no power.

That I can actually get one of my own songs stuck in my head. Not a song I'm currently working on, or have recently worked on, but a song I wrote and recorded over 30 years ago.
I remember my grandmother telling us about a time (in the 80's) she was baby sitting my younger cousins, who had a cartoon of some kind on the TV. She said that the music playing made her hair stand up for some reason, and she realized that it was a song she'd written 30 years before then. Apparently she'd tried to market it and it just disappeared or something.

It's "Hell" to get old.

That would be a surreal experience!:wideyed:

Processed dog food is making your dogs fat and setting them up for diseases same as it does humans. Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratios are inverted(BAD, VERY bad). Their analysis(expensive, so-called "healthy" dog food) found while checking the stuff for our furries. Some Beaches.....
Omega-6 Fatty Acids* 2.4% Minimum
Omega-3 Fatty Acids* 0.4% Minimum
So we KNOW "Excessive amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and a very high omega-6/omega-3 ratio, as is found in today's Western diets, promote the pathogenesis of many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, whereas increased levels of omega-3 PUFA (a low omega-6/omega-3 ratio) exert suppressive effects. In the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, a ratio of 4/1 was associated with a 70% decrease in total mortality." The importance of the ratio of omega-6/omega-3 essential fatty acids. - PubMed - NCBI
Hmmm.... I don’t eat processed dog food

Just learning more about the food we feed our furry folk. A decade or so ago there was a huge uproar in certain circles here about irradiated food causing very serious harm. Poor creatures. Dropped in on an Ohio vet, just now, only to discover more trouble,
Fellow Pet Owners, Sadly, we are forced to announce yet another pet food toxicity problem. This Class Action Law Suit involves two brands of dog food …

The problems cited in these dog foods include Heavy Metal Toxicity specifically Arsenic, Lead, and Cadmium as well as contamination with Bisphenol A [BPA]. all are known to pose health risks to humans and animals including dogs. Specific allegations include “negligent, reckless, and/or the intentional practice of misrepresenting and failing to fully disclose the presence of heavy metals and toxins in their pet food sold throughout the United States.”
What's the world coming to? It's good to see some sanity creeping in :) All that stuff about fatty acids is eye-opening too. Thanks for the insight. The world we take for granted is an amazing, and very complex place. Eating well is not so easy to do. I notice that that vet in Ohio has plenty of ideas about nutrition and what we should be feeding one another. Worth casting an eye over all that. We'll all benefit in the wake of such wisdom. Some of these recipes are seriously 'out there'. But, stripping down the detail, the ingredients are all solid, healthy and natural. This can't be a bad thing :)

We've also been known to irradiate other foodstuffs, like teas, herbs and spices, for human consumption. Doesn't make a great deal of sense. Fresh is best. And, on top of all that, with fatty acid toxicity and all that stuff about bisphenol A, endocrine disruption etc., it's enough to rot your socks, well and truly. And, it's ongoing, according to Invalid Link Removed,
Earlier this year, … dry dog food was recalled when it was linked with the condition megaoesophagus, which led to the death of at least 17 dogs and life-long feeding problems for about 90 others. …
With food and stuff, make an effort. Be forever watchful. It pays dividends.

I really popped in to state that my learning's just been press ganged and transported, taken off, kicking and screaming, to war. Way back. Another time. Another place. And I've been slipping between history's pages, AWOL, and getting comfy amongst the silks and cushions, pulling on a pipe, dreaming with some expats, in a haze in downtown China Town. And then setting sail, heading home, sipping hot black tea from a fine china cup, chasing the sunset. Sitting with friends on the deck of a clipper ship laden with riches, bound for old Blighty and glory. Modern China and the legacy of the Opium Wars :) It's an amazing story.

The cynical side. The lawyers of the world on a never ending mission to create money making opportunities. They get their degrees to figure out ways to "play the law". They get elected to create one law after the other to feed the giant Legal Industries insatiable appitie (read greed) for money. They play off the countries "Have nots" looking for an easy way out. Laws and more laws.

Dogs, wolves and other carnivores have been consuming some of the most disgusting things since the beginning of time. Except for isolated instances they manage to keep going. Marketing and sales is in business to convince you that you must have a certain product or service. Use common sense. There, I feel better now.....i think it's time for my medicine and hot chocolate.

We have them here, in great numbers. Flying weeds: how the monarch butterfly colonised Australia — hard to miss, they're an ever-present fixture, have been for as long as I can remember.
'Arriving in virgin territory with lots of milkweed, their numbers just exploded. So we have reports of millions of monarchs, milling around. Now they're going to disperse as well, so their chances of getting somewhere nearby are that much higher simply because the numbers are higher. [They] made it to Australia by 1869, 1870, or thereabouts—probably blew in from New Caledonia.'

Our inner narrator gives us continuity and a sense of self's now riding in the rumble seat, Powderworks is lustily working a few screws loose in the family truckster…

* Ever been inner narrator? I'm actually locked up in the deep, dark bowels of one, right now, in the hole :help: But I'm attempting a break, when the forecast storm hits, tonight: I'm through the wall, got my papers in order; got a nice wad, a bottle of bleach and a pair of Wayfarers, I'm on a mission; got the warden's Sunday best; and I've got 'is precious Oxford's too…

"Tom did like he was told; buffed those shoes to a high mirror shine. The guards simply didn't notice. Neither did I ... I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a man's …"

Morgan! Get out of my head. The show's over.
