What did you learn today?

Thanks mate, I appreciate it. Yeah, it gets a whole lot worse when the doctor makes a referral to a couple of specialists with made up information in it. But what also concerns me is who else is he doing this too. He's got zero evidence to back up his made up data, so I'll be sorting him out good and proper, legally that is. I'm actually lost words with whole thing...

Man, that sounds bad...really bad.

I sure hope you get it sorted out.

Not learned, confirmed.

"Naturally, bureaucrats can be expected to embrace a technology that helps to create the illusion that decisions are not under their control. Because of its seeming intelligence and impartiality, a computer has an almost magical tendency to direct attention away from the people in charge of bureaucratic functions and toward itself, as if the computer were the true source of authority. A bureaucrat armed with a computer is the unacknowledged legislator of our age, and a terrible burden to bear.”

TIL my old Flip video camera, which has been sitting unused for many years, is no longer fully functional.

I did something very uncharacteristic of me - I left the batteries in it. Yes, they corroded...I cleaned up most of the corrosion and installed new batteries, but the unit won't record or play, or show a full, bright screen except for a few seconds on startup. I was able to export a short video to computer, though.

I was hoping it was still fully functional so I could put it on eBay and maybe get a few coins out of it. I put an old but fully functional (although very limited compared to today's gadgets) mp3 player on eBay a couple years ago and got about $50 for it...

Reactions: the harp unstrung
Today I learned that my favourite music shop (that closed in April due to water damage from the extinguishing of a fire in the office above) reopened today in bigger premises.

Pre covid it was my regular Thursday haunt where I would chat to the owner and the guitar tech and drink coffee and was often left "in charge" while the owner went for a cigarette or bathroom break. I even managed to sell a couple of guitars (well strictly speaking 2 people came in with the intention of buying guitars and I happened to be "in charge" at the time).
