Learning lately about Portugal's origins. Fascinating
I learnt long ago that my home town may well have been Portuguese, if not for something they called the Pope's line. Some cat named Janzoon bumped into the west coast, in 1606, well after his countrymen first gazed upon our shores — also well before Cook took a little look — in the 1520s. Them's the breaks.
If these cats were Spanish, we'd most likely be playing a very different tune. At the time, this place belonged to them, according to a couple of Papal personages, signatories to the Treaty of Tordesillas.
<----- Evidence to the contrary.Today I learned this thread is where all the smart people on TalkBass hang.

I learned that my Squier PJ sounds AMAZING with flats. Any future P's I acquire shall solely be graced by the flats.

I know, I am a slow learner.
Today I learned that the 6 year old kid of a fellow bass player on Soundcloud thinks my latest practice tune is the "greatest song ever" hehe.
I thought it was pretty ok, but "greatest song ever" from a 6 year old? Wow.![]()
