TIL Gallaudet University football invented the huddle:
"Gallaudet University is Home of the Huddle. The first football huddle began in 1894. Gallaudet quarterback Paul Hubbard is credited with creating the football huddle during that season when Gallaudet went up against two different deaf schools. GU went 5-2-1 in 1894 and defeated the Pennsylvania Deaf School, 24-0, and the New York Deaf School, 20-6. Hubbard was worried that the other teams were stealing Gallaudet's plays because his signing was out in the open. He decided to circle up his teammates and the huddle was born."

When you have standing water in the bottom of your dishwasher, blowing out the lines with a heavy duty/pots & pans wash cycle using high-temperature water can do the trick!
Worked for me yesterday! My dishwasher is now bone-dry after using. Saved me a few bucks!

I continue to work on very basic treble clef reading. the guys I play with play a lot of jazz charts and though I can walk through just about any set of changes from the noted chords, I want to be able to play the melodies, or at least use them as a guide for soloing.
I had no music training as a child except for a few months of clarinet in grade 12 when we finally got a music program. I learned basic treble then, but that was 50 years ago.
Today I was working with Mel Bay's violin method volume one and worked o "Clementine" and "Aunt Rhody's goose."
Like I said, I am going back to basic basics.
