A snippet from an article I read today.
In September of 1976, a Soviet pilot defected to Japan in a MIG-25. Lol.
The wonder of vacuum tubes. I wonder if Sovtek was the company that supplied them…

…..Perhaps the most stunning discovery was the fact that most of the MiG-25’s avionics were based on vacuum tubes—not solid state electronics. This was considered woefully outdated for a top-of-the-line military jet in the 1970s, but the vintage system had its advantages. The vacuum tubes were more temperature-tolerant than modern avionics were, which allowed the MiG to fly without weighty environmental controls in the avionics bay. Plus, the tubes allowed for quick and easy maintenance at Russia’s primitive airfields, and the antiquated system would better withstand the circuit-frying power of an electromagnetic pulse created by a nuclear blast.

Here’s a picture of that same MIG after the Soviet pilot landed at the Japanese civil airport during his defection escape, overshooting the 6500 ft runway by several hundred more because he came in too fast..:woot:

Apparently Guitar Center no longer accepts paypal on used items. A little research turned up a March 2021 FAQ about this but I've been unknowingly doing this up to as recent as 3 weeks ago.

Such a shame because I sometimes used Paypal's Pay In 4 to get a foot in the door on some neat gear and get it paid off by the next paycheck. GC just lost a lot of potential sales from me but it also might be a blessing in disguise as I've been trying to cut back a lot of my gear spending.

I got a CC with 14 mos no interest. After a long hiatus my GAS is almost quenched by the last years’ spending spree. Two new basses and another amp have filled up the gaps.
