Back in the late 80’s when I lived in Florida I took a friend to rehab and had to take her home to sober up before they would take her in. Something about her not being able to sign a contract under the influence. I was neither family nor responsible party or an officer of the court so I figure that was why they wouldn’t let me sign her in.You can't check in to inpatient alcohol rehab if you are sober, which struck me as extremely strange as the nurse explained it to me and the family I was assisting. We had to take the person to the parking lot and wait while they drank some cheap booze we bought at 7-11.
