What did you learn today?

You can't check in to inpatient alcohol rehab if you are sober, which struck me as extremely strange as the nurse explained it to me and the family I was assisting. We had to take the person to the parking lot and wait while they drank some cheap booze we bought at 7-11.

Back in the late 80’s when I lived in Florida I took a friend to rehab and had to take her home to sober up before they would take her in. Something about her not being able to sign a contract under the influence. I was neither family nor responsible party or an officer of the court so I figure that was why they wouldn’t let me sign her in.

A while ago I realised when composing, the song is as long as the message it carries, whether very short or long. And also, when picking friends for your concert, always go with those who ask precisely when it is. Those who don't, probably aren't that interested in coming. This strategy worked out well!

Today I learned that gravel has a season.

Needing potting soil and gravel I went to Home Depot. And what do you know? No gravel till spring!

I've never heard of a gravel shortage, nor have I heard of seasonal gravel! And I didn't think gravel availability would be affected by supply chain issues, but it seems that anything's possible nowadays.

LOL. Same thing evidently with salt tablet for water softeners. Was at Costco looking in it's usual spot and when I asked about the salt, they told me it was a seasonal item. News flash...people use water softeners all year long.
