What did you learn today?

I learnt today, via another thread, that one of the most purchased beers in the world is, apparently, not very popular and that it, unbeknownst to me, sucks. I further learned that knowledge of its ingredients and how it came to be so popular/unpopular overrides my opinion that it is a pleasant beverage to consume upon occasion.

This is the first beer I ever tasted - just a splash of froth in an egg-cup. My grandfather preferred this one. He was a Gympie boy. TIl'd that it's an American-style augmented lager. For some reason, I prefer the term pilsner - these beers are often misnamed, it seems My most recent indulgence (#1193), from WA (Western Australia), was very reminiscent. And DELICIOUS !

I wish this style of beer was more commonly made by microbrewies and artisanal brewers. It seems Pale Ales dominate the market.

My favorite daily drinking beers are Czech style Pilsners, I'll stll favour a bottled Pilsner Urquel over most beers to wash down a meal or cap a days work.

I learnt today that this Pokemon thing is horrifically real. I went for a hike in a local metro park and the woods were literally infested with flocks of youngsters (mainly teens and twenty year olds) staring intently into their smart phones, ignoring the sights and sounds of Mother Nature on a lovely summer morning.

Today I learned that Die Hard was actually a sequel to "The Detective", which starred Frank Sinatra. I never knew that.
