TIL a woman was sentenced to life in prison for poisoning her child to death with antifreeze. She gave birth to a second child while in prison, who was given to foster care. But he became sick with the same symptoms, indicating a genetic metabolic disorder, not poisoning. She was later released.

Wow, stories like this (and there are MANY of them out there) make me physically ill and angry ... especially when it's noted that the investigation was shoddy and lab work was incorrect. Reason enough to push me to oppose the death penalty. It's bad enough when people spend years of their life behind bars before being exonerated (if that ever even happens!) DNA seemingly has exonerated as many people serving long sentences, as much as to help connect a specific person to a particular crime.

I believe that any prosecutor that pursues the conviction of a person must believe so firmly in that persons guilt, that they'd be willing to finish out an inmates sentence if they are later exonerated, instead of just thinking of defendant's convictions as chalk marks on their headboard.

If the lady in the story didnt coincidentally get pregnant right before getting locked up, that couple would have had their lives totally destroyed by jail on top of the pain of losing their 2 children.

Sorry, rant over  Overzealous prosecutors really stick one in my craw

I took the quiz on that site; turns out I don't know poopie about poopie.
Fundamentally, I just passed that poopie quiz. Barely :wacky: Takes guts, it made me a tad bilious, but I'm relieved and flush with greater confidence now that I have all that inside information. Thanks for the prompt :) And a truly crappy new wordling for the madcap menagerie - coprophilia. Ha Ha Ha!

TIL:- That some of the survivors of the recent LV massacre that went on t.v. and talked about it are actually getting death threats via social media from conspiracy theorists who think the whole thing was a staged fake with paid actors.

It's unfathomable what some people believe and the way they think....
I've quit keeping up with just about all news. Last year a friend told me to give it a year and the news would be so vilified and beat down by insanity most of America would just quit keeping up at all. I actually scoffed when he said it. We already had fake news so I'm thinking I'd just keep reading three sources and keep picking up the common threads just to stay current on the narrative, and here I am one of the first to give up and lose most all interest in any kind of news.
