Tombowlus' S6 FTW! And it's an Avant! And it's red (RARE!)! And with the brushed aluminum mirrors! And the RS6 wheels!

/faints

I used to have an Imola S4 Avant. Then I had a son (2nd kid) and that S4 had to go (couldn't afford payments AND diapers :().

Now I have an 02 GTI for my German Car Fix, and it's a pretty dang good gear hauler as well. An 05 Jetta for the mrs. One day, I will get back into an Audi S something.

Most recently, been jonesing for a 90 Audi CQ. Cool cars.

Thanks for noticing! :) I think of that car as being somewhat of a 'stealth' sports car (which is somewhat ironic, as my previous car was a Stealth R/T Turbo). No one ever expects the V8 gurgle and surge of acceleration when I take them for a ride. :D

Oh, and the engine as been chipped to exceed the S8 settings (est 370 HP), and I installed H-Sports sways. And of course the roof edge spoiler.

Personally, a wagon makes so much sense for me. I even have the Allroad trailer hitch installed (though I need to have a custom gooseneck made for it). :smug:

MUST go for a ride :)

Just bought this today. I am kind of indifferent on the outside appearance, but the rest of the vehicle rocks!

Perfect gear hauler! Before I get slammed with "box" comments, let me first state.....I don't care. Below overrides the box:

TONS of room for gear, and my equipment needed daily for work.

38mpg highway, since I sometimes drive up to 500 miles a day (paid 45 cents a mile). This should pay for itself in no time....was getting 16mpg before.

Great handling, nice stereo, and loaded with options (although, I did opt for a 5 speed to keep from getting run over passing)

Great resale, although I plan to keep this till the wheels fall off.

Toyota reliability, 'nuff said!

So, it is pretty much the perfect car for my needs, even if it looks like a toaster with wheels :)

I swear I have been looking at these! (on the Internet). It's a Scion Xb (?). I like them because they're unassuming, unique, Toyota quality/reliability, and I figured they would be good gear haulers, very practical. Didn't know for sure, but figured the gas milage was good. Nice! I like it. I was gonna buy a used one and 18k seems to be about what they go for.

Tim:

I actually think that those things have that 'so ugly they're cool' look about them, and in all honesty, I really like the look of the overall package. In fact, I've considered picking one up as a third vehicle (before I sold my truck, we always had three vehicles, and it's amazing how often that came in handy), but then I remember that I went with a 'station wagon' expressly for the purpose of melding my 'sport' and my 'utility' vehicles into one (non-sport utility) vehicle. :smug:

Again, those things are great, and make a lot of sense. We have owned three Toyotas, and our first two both went for 200k miles and were sold in great working order.

No pic, but I currently have a Saab 9-3 "Viggen" convertable. Very good car...not a good gear hauler. I'm getting a Scion Xb like Tim's. And Tom Bowlus is right - they're so goofy looking that they're cool. Hopefully they seat 4 better than my Saab.

Ooooh, the 9-3 Viggen is very nice car!
