Double Bass What do you guys drive?

VW Golf, '96

New Standard Cleveland, Telecaster (hard shell case), 112 bass cabinet, 112 guitar amp, 2 gig bags (mine has my amp in it), handtruck, clothes, two people (in the front seats). Plenty of visibility.

I fit three people once with the same amount of equipement, but I would rethink the loading if I did it again.

hehe, untill very recently I drove a fiat panda, and I got very used to lugging my big amp, (unfortunately the only one i have so it has to go to jazz gigs too...) my DB, my bass guitar + all the miscellaneous paraphinalea. on more than one occasion I fit 4 people in as well (including me) with two people nestled in the back with there backs to my amp. not a comfortable ride!

one time I was approaching a mini roundabout in the wet with said passengers, i put the brakes on and the car was so heavy they just locked instantly and we were gliding forwards towards a taxi with no decrease in speed (but he swerved, thankfully)

now ive upgraded to a rover 200, which although is allot more comfortable, still has pretty much the same issues with equipment despit being a good deal bigger..

im on the lookout for a bedford rascal

I just got it last week. Very nice, comfy. I never was a mopar kinda guy but this thing totally changed my mind. Oh, and 27mpg helps too

I used to do that on my Yamaha.... GK amp bungeed to the seat, Steinberger slung over my shoulder.

There was a pic of a bass in a Mini here at one time... I'm sure someone can dig it up. I have a drummer friend who schleps a drumset in the back of his; congas go in the front seat.

Haven't posted for a while, but I drive an Echo Hatchback. They're now calling that model the Yaris, and I get my big string bass in there just fine with room for 2 passengers. It's the perfect city car.

Used to drive an '06 Impreza. Written off last month from a rear-end accident It would fit a 410 in the back + my bass + amp under the cargo blind, but not much more.

Have a Forester now. Much much more room, but half the fun.

The Foz is great, but the Impreza just had stupid amounts of grip from all the suspension bits added to it. I'm tempted to go down a similar route, but the Forester is a temporary ride at best.

Which leaves me more money for Bass Gear

so Hoyt-do you strap it down to keep it from floppin all around? or does that just help add "character"?

It doesn't generally slide around on the rubber mat I have in the bed, and the tonneau (sp.) cover protects it from the elements (along with my gig bag of course). I don't know a better way to transport a URB, 4x10, 1x15, 8 space rack case for my head/tuner/power conditioner, along with a back up Bass Gittfiddle... Maybe a Dodge Magnum with the 454 hemi?

Volvo person here. Just drove my '96 960 wagon very comfortably up to Davenport IA and back last week. Will hold probably 3-4 uprights depending on size. Very often will take to the bus the old Standard, medium SWR rig, slab in flight case, Soltice/cord case, and luggage with room to spare. Very hard to find model - being the last rear-wheel drive, got mine on autotrader.com, Rufus Reid got his on ebay.

What a fantastic car , we can fit bass + 112 Cab + Fender Rhodes + Roland JC120 + Drums (jazz kit) + stool and a lot of other stuff.
These cars are huge!

It's the exact same car as the Ford Escort wagon.

It has a good bit less payload space than the Taurus, but you can still pack the hell out of it if you're creative.
