Double Bass What do you guys drive?

I'd be carefull with such statements. I'm a bit involved in vintage racing and rollbars are mandatory for obvious reasons, however every expert will tell you that if you have a rollball fitted to your car you must always wear a helmet (also manadatory in any form of racing). why you might ask? well if you have an accident in a car with a rollbar, the first thing your head is going to hit is actually the rollbar. If that happens and you are not wearing a helmet the resluts can be really ugly, even if your accident happend at fairly low speeds.

Who's talking about racing? I meant that it keeps the bass from falling out of the car.

As a matter of fact, I did one day when my old Acura Integra died just as I was leaving for an afternoon job. I managed to get the lower part of the body into the right seat and had the neck sticking up. I can't tell you how much fun it was to watching the expressions of people driving toward me. I bought our current Subaru Forester to replace the Acura shortly after that, but it is nice to know that you can get a bass in a Miata if it is absolutely necessary. Just hope I never have to do that in the middle of a winter snow storm!

Most of the time put the bass, amp and gear in my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with room to spare--but my upright and amp also fit in my 1007 Pontiac Bonneville--front front seat laid flat back, with amp and gear on back seat behind the driver and in the trunk.

2006 Chevy HHR. Everything fits real nice (DB, EBG, 1x12 cab, stool, + room for 2 passengers, ++ great gas mileage.

Joe, I have an '01 Frontier that I use as my daily driver. I bought an Extang Fulltilt tonneau cover, works great. Totally weathertight, even in Maui's horizontal rain/wind assault.

2006 Mazda 3s. I love it. Easily fits my bass and amp. I could fit a lot more in there at the same time if I needed to.

I'm not a fan of SUVs, but love the space for my musical equipment. The 3s is the best of both worlds!

My daily driver is a '93 Jeep Cherokee. Plenty of room and 4x4 for Minnesota winters, but gas mileage stinks.

'98 Ford Mondeo hatchback (US: Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique liftback).

My bass (3/4 flatback, in soft case), fits happily on its back with 2/3rds of the back seat down (so still room for driver+2). A decent-sized amp would probably cut human capacity down to 2. Putting the bass on its side might allow me to just put down 1/3rd of the back seat - I may try this next time.

I drive a Van like this. This is just a stock photo but its a 2004 GMC Explorer Conversion Van in Carbon Metallic. I took out the back seat. I can fit a whole quartet including a little PA, my DB and all four players in the van very comfortably.

Better Gas mileage than an SUV and a lot more room. Its very comfy. The loading deck is low so you don't have to lift up very far.

I've been driving full size vans for decades and never tire of them.

One of the advantages of living in the Midwest. Wide roads, lots of gas pumps.
