Double Bass What do you guys drive?

Does that mean you can get the bass in and still drive the car?? I've been trying to cook up any reason to get rid of my Grand Cherokee (overpriced Chrysler piece of frass) and whether or not the bass would fit in a Vette was a pivotal question. I figure if anyone asks why I'd sacrifice the passenger seat for the bass, I'd tell em hey, screw the passenger - if you can ;) (I mean it being a 'date car' and all...) OK, bad joke...

There isn't that much room for the driver anyway and I didn't actually take it for a drive, but I did manage to get in the driver's seat.

You can't see anything out of the passenger side mirror (well, you can't see the rear wheel arch as per normal) - actually, you can't really see much out the passenger window! Nor can you see much out the back window! :eek:

But yes, you and the bass will fit.

If you get a 1982 Anniversary model, the back window is a hatch back which would no doubt make things easier.

Woo! Great news. THanks. One of the guys at my shop grew up in a compound of american expats in SA, left there about 10 years ago. Said it was a very interesting lifestyle!

i drive a honda Element and it's great. the back seats fold up to the side and there's plenty of room. i've fit and 99 key keyboard, 2 eon 10inch monitors, and 4space rack, 1x15,410 cabs a five piece drum set trap case of stands, piano player and drummer and went made it from cape cod Mass to portlad maine onless than a tank of gas. and the best thing is the floor is plastic so it's a breeze to clean.

A friend and I were discussing whether or not you could get an upright 3/4 bass into a New VW Beetle (as opposed to the old VW Beetle, which you could.)

He ruined the conversation by saying to me, "Two words: Air Bags." Bummer.....

I have a 1991 Jetta GL, without air bags. Push the front passenger seat all the way froward and move it all the way down. Set the back of the neck on the rear seat shelf; secure the bass with the shoulder belts. Easy as eins-zwei-drei. And watch those mirrors!

The rollbar keeps it secure.

I'd be carefull with such statements. I'm a bit involved in vintage racing and rollbars are mandatory for obvious reasons, however every expert will tell you that if you have a rollball fitted to your car you must always wear a helmet (also manadatory in any form of racing). why you might ask? well if you have an accident in a car with a rollbar, the first thing your head is going to hit is actually the rollbar. If that happens and you are not wearing a helmet the resluts can be really ugly, even if your accident happend at fairly low speeds.
