What do you guys think of...

Samick LB-11R or Samick basses in general. Are they good quality basses?

Please recommend a good quality 4 or 5 string bass for slapping.

thanks,

Fred

I have a Samick "Greg Bennett Design" RLB4 hollowbody bass.
It's a wonderful bass that can provide very warm tones, but can also provide tons and tons of oomph.

I can't recommend a good 4-string for slapping, but...
as far as quality goes, I played many hollowbodies before I bought this one - some of them were very expensive (Godin). The hardware and finish on this Samick was as good as or better than all of them. The electronics are great, and I have no complaints whatsoever about this bass.

It's one of my favorites - and I've read good things across the board regarding Greg Bennet design Samick basses.

I've always associated Samick with Pawn Shop guitars because there used to be tons of Samick six-strings hanging everywhere, but this bass has changed my mind about Samick. Apparently, they're one of the largest manufacturers of guitars in Asia (I think they build 'em and other low-mid range companies slap their logos on 'em).

Good luck,

Steve
