What does success look like for you?

Find and hold on to my proverbial or literal mission in life.

If there is no such thing as a mission in life, find and hold on to my biggest passions in life. So far, the only thing close to it is playing music, but I'm confident there are at least one or two more passions of mine waiting for me to discover them.

Another possibility is to either leave something kinda big with my actions, like a positive change in my community or even society, or just finding illumination (in the sense Buddhists define such concept), mindfulness and complete self-awareness.

I'm a weird guy in that I really don't care all that much for what most other people want: accumulate money and goods (which helps, of course, but I don't see it as an end), having sex with many people (or just a lot of sex), having kids, having cars, having power, having tons of acquaintances (some might refer to them loosely as "friends"), finding a significant other, and whatnot.

Sitting in the natural hot springs at the Royal Corin swim up bar in Costa Rica looking at the volcano last week made my wife and I feel pretty successful, and warm (We highly suggest). Coming home to our 2.5 year old daughter who spent the time we were away with grandma was even better...until she cried and wouldn't get in the car.

For me right now, it's pushing my limits without having having it blow up in my face.

I'm reading this book for class that should of had a trigger warning on the cover. I normally power through readings, but this one...I don't want to say I can't finish it, I want to be strong enough to say I can look at silly, stupid, fictional horror and not relapse.

Somebody on facebook posted a link from a self-help guru yesterday that said

"Success is doing what you want, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want."

I was thinking it sounds more like the definition of a selfish p$%^k, but what do I know.

to be able to sit down in the evening, and be happy.

I have been up and down in my life. I have known what it felt like to pay cash for his and hers V12 jaguars (hers was a red XJS, mine was black). I know what it feels like to drive a porsche to work. it is great to have a big home in the mountains, and have your own custom motorcycle shop...
I also know what it is like to see illness eat my wife from the inside out, and hold my young daughter, at my wife's funeral.

There are a couple friends I want to do something with. People I have not been on stage with, but should have. I think I want a smaller house, but one with a small "bar" built onto it. I don't really want the alcohol, more the atmosphere for my friends and I to play in. I think I want to go back to school. I am tired of building bikes and hot rods.

Sorry to hear about your wife. I lost mine about a month ago and I am now alone with my two eight year old girls.

A post on TB that doesn't turn into a fight is enough for me nowadays.

Hey! That's obviously an allusion to the one time you and I disagreed about something trivial in a discussion that had already strayed off the original topic. I'm offended at you referencing that in an obviously derogatory manner, and I'm planning on making my distaste for you generally well known with the over use of eye-rolling emoticons. Because obviously not fighting is the way to go....:rolleyes::rolleyes:
