What dog do you own?

Here is my first. He was about 150 LBS and smart as hell. Lived 16 years. His "little sister" was a great dane (she only made it to 8 yrs), so he had it in his mind that he was a little dog.
Have a chow mix and a dobie mix now, but I've been a bad dad and don't have pics readily available. I'm a big dog kinda guy. I kinda might feel bad for anybody stupid enough to break in... but not really ;)

What kind of dog is that? Husky? Looks similar to the Husky/German Shepard mix I used to have.

Don't really know, but the vet said akita mix. He was one really mean dog to any people or animals that weren't introduced to him by us. BUT, if WE brought someone (or another dog) in the house, he was instantly their best buddy. I heard akitas are like that.

the dog rescue people can't communicate, they apparently don't talk to each other, don't call you or return phone calls, we scheduled a home visit and i guess the "volunteer" didn't even turn in our paperwork, even though all the interview information was already on our online app and we had to be interrogated about our jobs, fence, and work schedules, he didn't feel it was necessary to inform the manager which dog we visited or the results of the dog meet and greet with our animals, i know these people are volunteers, but for expletive's sake i'm trying to help this poor dog with the broken leg and we've already adopted our second dog from these people two years ago, maybe that's why they lost their funding and had to move from the nicest area of the city to the scariest, sorry i'm so irritated, just got home from planning a documentary with actual responsible adults who can follow up and be trusted with simple tasks

Sorry to hear about the difficulties. You're doing the right thing. Stick with it and it'll work out. :)

Thank you! He's an Anatolian Shepherd (big Turkish flock guardian dog). He's 11 mos old. We had one years back, and we offered the Anatolian Rescue that we could foster one. This guy and his brother were abandoned in an industrial park in Sacramento. We picked him up (his brother found another foster and home). Guess we failed in the fostering department - he's ours full time forever. :D

They do look like big generic dogs, which is one reason I like them. Very unique temperaments. Although we don't know his parentage so he *could* be a mix, his size, conformation and attitude are very, very typical Anatolian.
