What effect do you run on all the time?

For always on its my Source Audio eq(except for one of my basses that doesn't need it, I use this to feed my other pedals/comp similar tone/levels) into my Empress compressor then into Darkglass VMTD! Makes my GK'S sound like tube amps!

But this'll more than likely change once I get the Darkglass amp, in which case my VMTD will be for gig's where I *have* to use whatever amp is provided!

I'm also gassing over the "DSM Noisemaker Omni-cabsim" which would probably be always on as well because that thing sounds amazing, I go direct 99.9% of the time with occasional gigs of just amp carrying my tone! But this also depends on if the Darkglass amp will even need it!?

Despite using a fEARful, I do prefer some coloration , but IME I've been mic'd once in 18 years of gigging!

Compressor (quite transparent, but gives nice sustain when needed...if that makes sense!), and my SAPBDDI which is my pre-pre-amp. I have one channel set very clean/flat, and the two others as effects (SVT and Fliptop type settings). Then I have an early 90s SABDDI as an 'oomph' effect (Precision with flats...).

This.

None really, although I always have a tuner and usually a clKeeley compressor in my signal chain when gigging out. Whether I use the compressor or not is mainly driven by the room acoustics rather than my wanting to use it.

I'm also seriously contemplating making my Ampeg SCR-DI a permanent part of my road kit as well. But I really like that classic Ampeg sound so that will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me.

For home use - or for special situations - I could have any (or all) of the following:

  • Polara Reverb
  • Catalinbread Montevillian Echo
  • Catalinbread Pareidolia Harmonic Mesmerizer
  • BOSS RDD-10 Digital Delay
  • A so-called "aural enhancer" (either BBE or Aphex - I've got both)
  • Keeley Bassist
  • Ampeg SCR-DI
Possible future additions may include either a Diamond BCP-1 or an OVNIFX Smoothie compressor - and one of the two versions of Way Huge's Saucy Box.

Also some sort of suboctave unit - if I can ever find one I actually like. No luck with that so far. But hope springs eternal.

You don't find a ton of folks around here who like the Steel Leather. I keep mine on all the time. In addition, my MXR DI+, including the distortion set at low gain is on, and my Smart Gate ( another unpopular pedal around here..... gates in general).

I set mine at 9 o'clock on both dials and its minty. I think people get turned off that its not the easiest pedal to figure out settings even though it only has two knobs
