What fretboard do you prefer for Precision basses?

Rosewood. Although I wouldn't mind a maple board for a P. Especially a pre-57 style or Tele Bass.

I tend to let the piece decide. I have both. When a brighter more twangier sound is what I'm craving, then maple. If a warmer solid sound, then rosewood. But, again, this may all be in my head.
As a side, I have never really gotten gooey over my Peavey T-40 maple neck. I think they lost me with the high gloss. My fingers stick to the board. But I will never get rid of it cuz me mum give it to me : )

Real answer-it depends on the body color. But I tend to like rosewood better than maple.

I prefer maple because it blends better with the blond head. If Fender made a head that matched the rosewood, or the body, I would be OK with the rosewood.

Maple feels better to me...always has. Rosewood seems to get gunky. Oh, and it's more punk rock.

I like both, but, I tend to be very picky about rosewood. I tend to feel that rosewood should always be dark & it seems to vary quite a bit.

I voted maple just because I like the look with a black body. I have a black n maple Fender (Japan) PB57. Every other bass I have is rosewood or ebony, though!

Aesthetics...

I get that there is subtle tonal differences between the two (someone say troll?) but it depends on the finish of the bass for me. IMO, brownburst/sunburst doesn't look good with rosewood, but my alder body US DLX P looks great with maple board. I have a US Select J with a amberburst finish that has a rosewood board. Looks AWESOME! Then I saw a Siena Sunburst Strat with a maple neck, and started gassing for that combo on a bass!

I prefer the rosewood for the tone thought, and since i use Precision V, I settled on rosewood.

I had a MiA '08 Precision V. Sounded awesome (sunburst/rosewood), but that neck was way too big for me. I traded it for a MiA sage green metallic '97 4 string P with a maple fretboard. Also sounds awesome, but manageable. I really wish the Fender 5 string necks weren't so damn huge. My 5 string bass now is a MiJ Ibanez SR-885. Doesn't sound as good, but I can play it very comfortably. You can't have everything, I guess.
