I don't get why folks call successful bands, weak?!?! They make the music they want to do and are successful doing it! And please stop with the sold out comments. That's ludicrous!
You prefer the band continues playing dives and traveling in old beat up station wagons, barely making it from day to day?? Come on, really??
Would you get into the music business with the goal to stay broke??
Just hearing Adam Levine's whiny snot clogged voice (think - shhhhheeeeeeeeeee wlllll beeeeeeeee loooooooveeeeeeeeeed - holding your nose while singing) ruins my day.
I noticed my teen-aged daughter listens to them, so I must not like them any more.
DJ's NOT like/play hits? C'mon...seriously? That's their bread and butter! Every DJ I know (and I know a lot) play whatever is hot!
what happened? a bad pop rock band continued being a bad pop rock band. what changed was clear channels vision of what a pop rock band should be.
Wow! Unhappy DJ's and unhappy Pop stars!! Really guys???Yeah, they play the hits, but they do it because that's where the money is, not because that's the music they really love. Most of them aren't really all that enthusiastic about Rihanna. They think she's OK or not that bad, but would rather be playing Goran Bregovic or Cosmic Gate or something if it wasn't for the money. I've heard DJs apologize for having to play super-popular songs by request.
I really wish it was easier to find musicians who have nothing against music normal people like, but it's hard...
The correct answer is, who gives a ****?
Ok, I gotcha. I don't think it's 'most' musicians, though. I know quite a few who are into anything and everything as long as it's good music. But I also know a lot who are into just one type of music and nothing else! Just living life in a box! No way to live if you ask me!"Unhappy" is probably saying way too much, they're more like "reasonably happy but would ideally prefer to be doing something else". Like, they'd rather DJ at a Balkan night or techno night than a corporate party.
All I'm saying is: most musicians just like weird stuff, so I don't take their opinions about music seriously. If a musician tells me they hate Maroon 5, I don't think about why - I just ignore it as "musicians being musicians".
