Maybe put the bashing threads in the 'jokes and humor' section instead.

I agree, or maybe in their own (sub)section - then those of us who don't want to view them know where not to go.

I've made some comments (mostly of an un-bashing nature, I think) on a couple of those threads, but I resolve to stay away from them in the future - they so quickly dissolve into something very unpleasant.

As long as they quit showing up on the homepage, I don't care where they put them. I still say it reflects poorly on the entire community here.

You're correct. There's nothing funny about it.

Bashing pro enduring performers and showmen who play plenty well for their band or genre is really just a way of screaming "I'm a lazy amateur", because someone that's put the effort in knows that it's a lot harder than it looks.

People who put the effort in gain humility, the rest have sarcasm as a way to externalize their bitter self-loathing which they attempt to justify by calling it humor. Personal ads come to mind.

I just went to the Steve Harris Bashing Thread and said something really positive about Steve Harris.

I'm very proud of myself.

"Sowing the seeds of love, the seeds of love, sowing the seeds..."

Steve Harris is the reason I bought a P-Bass, started using flats (though I don't use them much anymore), and pretty much started playing bass on a regular basis!

I've noticed that people who are quick to bash are not in a band and/or totally suck at playing.

Or they are the biggest idiot in the band, always ripping on some other band or musician or fellow bandmates, wondering, after a few years and bands, why they dont get any calls for gigs and are back in the basement playing along to cd's by themselves.

Hey guys, quit bashing on the bashers.

I have noticed an increase in negativity and lack of respect on TB lately. Makes me not want to visit too often anymore. Too bad, because there is some good discussions here if you can tune out the background noise and people who don't seem to understand how to engage in mature conversations.

More time to practice.

Thread delivers.
I think we just have to understand that its ALL good stuff, it doesn't matter what genre. You could find at least one thing you can learn from in any music, from pop to jazz. They all have very different agendas but the same goal.
