I have been wondering for some time now. What's the difference between crafted and made eg. CIJ, MIJ? Need help here

To my knowledge it depends on the era of the bass, im pretty sure that all new Fender Japan are 'CIJ' as opposed to 'MIJ', but it makes little difference.
I think its just a bit of a cop out to make people think they are worth more, 'crafted' sounds much more extravagent than 'made'.
CIJ makes folks feel better about the instrument... And one can say "Crafted in Japan" without laughing...
