Old Peavey gear comes to mind for me. Nothing fruffy or pretensious about it. Just big, heavy, loud, built like a tank workhorses that get the job done, and were built in Mississippi. 15 and 18 inch speakers, and amps that can be played at 16, 8, 4, or 2 ohms. I mean come on, what could be more "manly" than "black widow" and "scorpion" speakers?

Agree 100 percent. Ampeg could be considered girly, since it is the amp of choice for a lot of skinny indie dudes. Peavey is for people who just want a big sound and don't give a **** about trends and what is considered hip.

I often play through a Marshall guitar head, since I don't give a ****. That is somewhat manly in my book

Did he have all of those on at shows or were 2 of them back-up/(for show) Thats a lot of vibration goin on to have the amps sitting right on the cabs.. Looks cool as heck though

Actually he uses the 800s as preamps; the Meyer cabs are powered. This is [DEL]probably[/DEL] even more manly, since he can play a gig AND kill all the vermin in his garage...

Fender would be most manly except that anything that popular cannot be the epitome of manliness. That kinda screws Ampeg too in Bass equipment.

Within that premise, I've always found a backline of Hiwatt to be the most manly looking thing imaginable.

The vibration issue in Ampeg 810's is a non-issue, mainly because they are braced so well that they really don't vibrate. I've yet to have a problem with vibration in any that I've used.
