What is your dream bass?

I gotta go with the legendary fodera yin yang deluxe. That bass is just beautiful, I mean it's a work of art in both design and sound. Such a gorgeous bass, such a gorgeous sound. I'd also like a khaler tremolo on it, (cuz whammy bars on bass are just awesome!!!), and a hipshot drop d tuner. Yeah, that'd be amazing. :)

it would be a fender p with a j neck, maplewood fretboard, one split p neck pickup and a jazz pickup at the bridge both dimarzios. Would be metallic gold with a mirror pick guard (like the steve harris p but gold not blue), have the same control knobs as a jazz bass, one volume for each pickup and a tone knob. I wish i could put together a picture somehow.

That's pretty similar to the Tony Franklin Fender custom.

I would have a bass made from old wood found along the beach. Wide and thick. It would have a 6-string neck on the bottom, and a two-octave keyboard on the top. It would be switchable like the double-necks currently being made, but also be able to send both signals at the same time. It would have stereo outputs, so the keys would go to a different preamp than the strings. The keys would have a 'lock' feature, so a note could be tapped and it would continue while you play the strings. Footpedal controls would control a lot of the options. Yes it probably would weigh in around 20 pounds, but there are some dudes that could handle it. Think of Victor W playing fast triplets high up on the neck while a low D from the keys is shaking the rooms foundations. Can someone build me that!

I´d kill for a 64 jazz bass in sunburst with tort guard and a rosewood board with clay dots. Especially one that has seen some action or is reliced.

EVERY time I see one, I damn near die of pure admiration.
The best thing is, I might get one soon, from Fenders custom shop (a 'real' one is beyond my financial reach), when I feel comfortable making such a big purchase. Which I guess will be as soon as I get my hands on one.

Custom Guitar Works quoted me a price of $2500 for the Scarab, and Jackson quoted me a price of $5000...so these will remain dreams unless I hit the lottery...

That would be Carl Thompson. He also made Stanley Clarke's basses and, with Stanley, invented the piccolo bass. If you were to ever get one new, be prepared to fork over some money. I believe it's a few thousand just to get put on the two year waiting list.
