What is your favorite dog breed?

my folks always had Springer spaniels when i was growing up, so I have a soft spot for them. They are generally a bit mental though.

when I was a youngster we spent a year or so looking after 2 beagles, they were very cool too.

I've had a ton of dogs over my lifetime. I've got 5 right now. Golden Retrievers, Lab, Springer Spaniel and a Border Collie. All good dogs. I'm partial to the Goldens, but the Border Collie is a cool dude as well. Then again, I really like my Lab and Springer too. Corgis and Australian Shepherds are cool as well. Basically, I like a lot of dogs, hehe. In general I like the working and sporting dogs. Dogs that were bred for a function and ones that also cannot be injured by a frisbee :)

Here are some of mine during an early morning game of fetch. They like it when we throw it in the kiddie pool:

Same here. We folks had a springer when I was born and have had several over the years and still have a pair of them today.

I'm a dog person through and through but since college I've moved around quite a bit so I haven't had a dog of my own in years. A few months ago my wife started talking about getting a dog but had a few things she really wanted: Not too big/rambunctious that it'd knock over the kids, fairly low shedding & clean, not a "yappy dog" etc.

I'd never even met someone that owned a Whippet but from everything I'd read it was the dog that best fit. So we got a pup a couple months ago that we named Skoda. They are a really interesting breed. And my god is he fast when he wants to be. At the dog park a number of dogs have tried to run with him and give up pretty quickly. It's crazy how quickly they get up to top speed (around 35 mph) and how easily they can change directions.

And yet he's a couch potato at home. From a couple weeks after we got him.

My favorite is whatever the pound has...I have a Husky right now but many mutts who were excellent dogs have lived and died here. I have to say this is the only Husky I've had and he is not the smartest of all the dogs I've had but he IS the most willing to please...once he knows what you want he is eager to do it.

I love my Weimaraner, but she IS a bit on the crazy side. But I can find something good in almost every dog. I think dogs are awesome. I must admit though, I have a soft spot for German Shepherds. Way back in the Dark Ages ('68 - '72), I was a military dog handler. The 2nd pic is of a 19 year old me (I'm 61 now!) and my dog in 'Nam around 1970.
