Wow, and I've always thought that I was the only one in the world to play BOF 3! I wholeheartedly agree with you too, there was so much cool and fun stuff to do in that game, and the whole mixing and matching genes to create the ultimate dragon transformations was/is one of my favorite game mechanics ever.
Oh, and Reis (sp? The tiger dude) was totally badass.
My fallback is always age of empires. My wife is playing "heyday" now and it makes me jones for rts. I played a little Starcraft, and a little Warcraft before that, but AoE always kept me amping up the difficulty and trying different tactics. Trebuchet always wins!

For me it is Mega Man 2 and 3 for the NES, I also have the 25 years aniversery edition for PS2. I must say I also love playing Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy Tactics

The first entry I list is the all time IT. All others are in no particular order. They were all great when I played them back in the day.
Panzer Dragoon Saga-Sega Saturn BEST-GAME-EVER!!!!!
Role playing action adventure game. Wicked awesome story, gameplay that kept you thinking, and a world invented that even though it was chaos, ruin, and more ruin to certainly come, you wanted to go live there. Best game I ever and will ever play. Limited release in the USA; came out late when the Playstation was dominate.
Complete 4 disc set goes for $350 and up on ebay. I will never sell mine.
That said, we can now go back to the "no particular order" theme....
Warlords-Atari 2600.
4 players in each corner of the screen surrounded by 3 or 4 layers of brick walls. Sprite (ball) would bounce around knocking off bricks, damaging your walls. Each player had a 'paddle' that would travel in front of the walls , and could either deflect or catch the ball, then throw it at the other players walls. I have 3 brothers, all in close succession (Catholic family), and we would play that for hours.
Secret of Mana-Super Nintendo
My first role playing game. Grabbed you and kept you there.
Dune: Battle For Arrakis- Sega Genesis
A command and Conquer prequel. Awesome strategy game. Lost weight and sleep playing it.
Mario Kart-Super Nintendo
Hours and hours...
Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger-3DO
Mark Hamill in a 'interactive movie' as a space fighter pilot. Plenty of space dogfights.
Really good story line. Very underrated.
Road Rash-3DO
By far, the best racing game in its time (early-mid '90's).
Best video game soundtrack EVER.....past, present, and future. ONLY the 3DO version. Computer, Playstation, N64, etc. versions and later releases changed it up.
NHL 94-Sega Saturn
I love hockey, and this was it. Still have it. Actually I still have all of these listed. Old game systems and games in every closet.
Gran Turismo series- PS1, 2, 3.
Have and played all of them. An honorable mention to the F1 series of games the Playstation 3 has released in the last few years. i'm a big F1 fan, and you really have to work to dial in your car to be competitive. Or just select amateur, but that's boring.

Prequels to the greatest game ever, Panzer Dragoon Saga. These were basically rail shooters, while Saga was an RPG/action/shooter.
Very unique gameplay, even for the shooter genre. Must haves if you still own a Saturn.

My first system was an old Atari, and I used to play the heck out of some Space Invaders, Centipede, Pac-Man, and a jungle game that I can't recall the name of off the top of my head.
For NES, Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Rad Racer, Master Blaster, Midway 1942, Akari Warriors, and Duck Hunt were staples in my home.
I played a ton of Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong Country, Yoshi's Island, Final Fantasy 3, Mario All Stars, and Turtles in Time on SNES.
On the 64, I still, to this day, play GoldenEye, Mario Kart, Mario 64, and Hangtime 64. It is hands down my favorite system ever.
And I guess it's old but I refuse to believe it's as old as it is, I played a ton of Gran Tourismo 3, Star Wars Battlefront, and James Bond Nightfire, and MGS on the PS2.
Oh, and Doom, Counter-Strike 1.6, Lego Island, and Mech Warrior 2 were favorites on my computer when I was younger.

I didn't know they ported that to Genesis. We talked about it earlier in the thread but known as Dune II because that was the name of the original PC release. The first Dune however was very different, made by a french developer and not Westwood, had some strategy elements but had no much to do with Dune II. Dune II is the first RTS of that type and yet it doesnt have nearly the name recognition of C&C or Warcraft which is a shame. These games didn't do anything Dune II hadn't already.
The only way Dune II didn't age well is that the AI was very easy to exploit and was dumb in its attacks, basically just endlessly sending you small amount of units to fights instead of gathering them up. So the strategy was always the same. Build just enough units to protect yourself then make units until you can easily overwhelm your enemy base and rush it. If they gathered some tougher units round the base, send a lone unit to bait them into following you then lead them back to your line of units. You could also have units that fired far enough that the enemies wouldn't come after them and would let themselves be destroyed. I played through with every House and then never touched it again. RTS had gotten old to me by then. I never really played another one (well not of that specific type)
You probably mean Jungle Hunt. Swinging from vines? Swimming with crocodiles? Interestingly this game was known as Jungle King originally. But Taito had to change the name because the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate sued over them using Tarzans likeness so the main character was changed to a jungle explorer instead of a Tarzan type. Thing is...i hope they sued over the box art, because of they mean the character in the game....likeness? There's just like 10 pixels that vaguely resemble a humanoid shape..
As for MechWarrior 2, i remember thinking if only games were one day to look like the intro movie........ of course games now look a hundred times better than the intro movie.

they are finally reviving the franchise but the devs doing it are crowdfunded and frankly the graphics arent up to today's standards so its disappointing. I mean with the car physics they now have in games like Burnout, they could make this amazing. But i have doubts it will be...

Metroid for sure was my all time favorite. River city ransom, MegaMan 2, the Zeldas and the SMB's all got lots of play as well. River Raid was my favorite 2600 game, followed by the one Star Wars game where you shot at pieces of the new Death Star as it was being built. I was done with video games by the time Super Nintendo hit the scene, but my younger brother had one and gave it a serious workout.
Holy **** those graphics are awful and it was one of the most fun games to play ever. I must have played both the first and the sequel for some thousands of hours when I was young.
At this point in time, I consider Halo old. The original Halo. I played the hell out of that. Weekend LAN parties were frequent.
Before that, Goldeneye for N64.
