Dee Dee used a number of different P-basses. I saw The Ramones a couple of times, and each time he played a white/black/maple.

If I may put my Ramones nerd hat on for a minute, I can give you a list of Dee Dee's basses in chronological order. Yes, I'm that sad. Please don't tell anybody or I'll never look cool again.

1. Shortscale Danelectro (Bought at the same time as Johnny Ramone's baby blue Mosrite)
2. Blue Fender Musicmaster
3. White / Tort / Rosewood early 60's Fender P (Bought from Fred Smith from Television. Dee Dee was told not to sell it on for heroin, which he later did.)
4. Black / Black / Maple early 70's Fender P
5. White / Black / Maple mid 70's Fender P (As pictured in the post above, there were 3 of these basses, two for touring and one in storage in case of theft. Around the time of End of the Century the pickguards were changed for red. The two touring basses were stolen sometime in the early 80's)
6. Sunburst / Black / Maple early 80's Fender P
7. White / White / Maple early 80's Fender P
8. In the mid 1980's Dee Dee landed an endorsement with ESP who gave him a White / White / Rosewood P Bass which became his main bass, a hideous pink P bass with a spider graphic on it (Johnny Ramone apparently hated this bass) and a Thunderbird type bass.

Later on CJ Ramone had a white late 70's P with a maple board. Which is my favorite, and I have a bass just like it.

He also had a sienna sunburst, tort and maple one. If you type in "Ramones US festival 1982" into youtube he uses it there

Gabba gabba, we accept you, we accept you, fellow geek!

I dig black 'guard with maple like the Tony Franklin fretted, or tort with rosewood like my G&L SB-2. With the tort/rosewood, ideally it's a creamy white like my G&L's "Vintage White." With black and maple, any kind of white works.
