DeeDee Ramone made me play bass :hyper:. Well i got into playing bass because of him and my first bass was a squier pbass which i later traded for an ibanez. I dont miss it because soon i will be getting a fender standard pbass white/white/maple and swap the guard for black just like DeeDee Ramone.

May he R.I.P. true punk legend, My hero!!

I was torn between getting a white/black/maple (in honor of
Dee Dee, as well as Paul Simonon) or a white/black/rosewood,
in honor of Sid Vicious)-I just knew I had to have one w/ the
large 70's "tv" headstock logo-
Along came Fender this year w/ the "70s Precision" which is
already vintagy off-white/cream, black PG, & tinted maple
neck w/ blocks & binding, & large headstock logo-
Though not "traditional", I love the look of the neck, and I
love how it plays and sounds

7. White / White / Maple early 80's Fender P
8. In the mid 1980's Dee Dee landed an endorsement with ESP who gave him a White / White / Rosewood P Bass which became his main bass, a hideous pink P bass with a spider graphic on it (Johnny Ramone apparently hated this bass) and a Thunderbird type bass.

Later on CJ Ramone had a white late 70's P with a maple board. Which is my favorite, and I have a bass just like it.

Hey. If you're still around.....

What can you tell me about the red pickguards that Dee Dee used? They look solid red but I've never seen a guard like this offered by Fender.

Funny—I just uncased this Squier Affinity that’s been stored for quite a while, and decided to give it some attention. It’s a bit more beat up than I remembered, but I’ve been adjusting this and that, and it’s playing pretty well.

Anyways, happens to be my favorite combination that fits this thread.

Old pic I took right after putting the tort pickguard on it. (Edit-- the white is a lot creamer in real life)

MIM's are fine. I have a MIM P/J, and I love the sound and feel of it. I hear and read a lot of Negative opinions about MIM's, but, for the most part, everyone I've played has been a fine instrument.

As I have a massive Oly White fetish, this thread is completely to my taste. The pick guards themselves are merely thongs as it were, and I therefore enjoy all colors, just so long as my Oly white fetish is indulged.
