I did a 30" scale 8 string parts bass ... by accident it is similar to the re-issue Hagstrom 8 string bass. It is a little like a baritone guitar with octaves ... It is wired passive, it has a Schaller bridge

Yes, I Tony Franklin'ed it (That's a Tony Franklin sig pickguard too). The route isn't too clean, but I love this bass.

this is my Rickenfaker ... Wired like a 4003 and it has 2 humbuckers, it has a schaller bridge.

SG 5 string parts bass wired like a 4003, the neck pickup is a Rickenbacker humbucker, and the bridge pickup is a jazz pickup ... underneath the chrome covers.

I like this one here a lot ... it is a parts bass

maybe $500 or so in parts ... it is crazy light and sounds good ... 5 strings on a 4 string neck

it has a schaller bridge, an Audere 4 band preamp, and seymour duncan pickups. The body is maple, the pickups are in the Rickenbacker positions.

Least expensive of the 4 basses I have. Plays/sounds fantastic. Definitely fun to play, and certainly one of the easiest. Recently decided to try Chrome flats on it, set it up, and it's got a whole new sound. Love this thing.

I have chromes on mine too. Perfect fit for that bass.

That is a T45, it is 34" scale.
Some T45s are heavy and some are medium weight, none are light.

I just picked up an Epiphone T-Bird because it was priced at an incredible value... However, I must say I am less than impressed. It just doesn't have that "feel" like my USA and CIJ fenders.... I'm not too sure I will be holding on to it. I suppose those who have never driven a Mercedes are destined to be content with a Yugo.

You have me second-guessing myself now... An Epiphone Thunderbird was a serious contender as a bass I was considering buying. So many good reviews. After reading your post, I suppose I should actually play one first before pulling the trigger.

The red one!! Squier Classic Vibe 60’s Precision. While it’s not the one I reach for the most because Jazz basses are my thing , it just has no business being such a great bass. No need to spend more for a good Pbass . For me, this is as good as it gets .

Same here, I love my CV P bass, I have the Fiesta Red one as well with Fralins, threaded rod saddles, flats and the bridge ashtray with a foam mute. I ran it over with my SUV by accident and it survived with barely any damage I really liked it before but now especially so, and I'm not even necessarily a P bass person.

Thunderbirds are generally their own thing - if you expect one to be "like a Fender", then you'll likely be disappointed.
But they are awesome guitars, the look, the sound, the feel....but it will be a Thunderbird, nothing else.
Playing one first is solid advice; if you like it, you'll love it

Umm... He was comparing a Tbird with a Fender. Of course a Tbird isn't going to feel like a Fender. Neither does a Ric. Neither does a Hofner.

And yes, pick one, any one, up and play it with a strap on, not sitting.

A Thunderbird is a beast all its own. And very polarising. You're either gonna love it or hate it.

A Thunderbird with a Fender neck (Fenderbird) doesn't feel like a Fender, either.

More Peavey's... T-20 and a Fury. The LP blue T-20 is an outstanding bass more balls than the red Fury. The T-20 resides in a stand with a Lakland Bob Glaub and a G&L SB-2. It doesn't necessarily kill them but it stands tall amongst them. Its a true player and I pick it up every day.

Yes it’s an 83 T45 this one is closer to medium weight, less than my last Jazz and balances better, I don’t believe the body on this one is Ash maybe alder?
