I'm trying to work on different styles of bass playing, and I don't know how important what pick is used.

Do you play with a pick?
What kind of pick do you play with?
Benefits of playing with a pick?

I'm 15 and stupid so all opinions welcome!

Do you play with a pick? On bass that is a no. On my acoustic guitar sometimes.
What kind of pick do you play with? See picture below
Benefits of playing with a pick? Some say you can emphasize the notes more. Me I don't have anything against it. The main reason I use a pick on my acoustic is some songs require it. But on a bass, I seen that no matter the song and style anyone can play anything on a bass with just their fingers. So in short, there is no reason to do one or the other nor one is better than the other. In short, if you are this concerned to use a pick, try it. If you find you prefer using your fingers then do it. But don't over think it!
